You did not do anything wrong by causing his arrest. Becoming rich overnight is not anything we should encourage in our societies. Dishonesty and stealing should not have any place in our societies. God in his wisdom has laid down principles and procedures to become rich (work, keep working hard and God will reward your efforts; there is not shortcut without consequences)
But I urge you to temper justice with mercy. You mentioned that he used some of the money to import a vehicle and he has also given back 100,000. Take hold of the imported vehicle, sell it and get some of your money back. After getting hold of the vehicle, ensure his immediate release.
Three months in custody is severe. Take steps to secure his release.

They you may decide to pursue the matter in court or just let sleeping dogs to lie.
Tell the state that you are no longer interested in pursuing the matter further.
Now you mar decide to pursue the matter until the remaining amount is paid.
But the matter still remains a fiction.

If you know vividly, he won't be able to provide the money left just take into account the good relationship you once had with his mum and let it go!! Take this as an experience and never trust anyone again just yourself and GOD!!!

I sacked my nephew from stealing from our family business. We paid for his private school high school, and his university expenses. Upon graduation, we made him manager of the growing business managing multiple outs in 4 different cities. He lived in 5 bedroom home belonging to the family, and used the company car to conduct business.

In time we found out he had embezzled over ghc 300,000. He lied as to what he did with the money. He could not even bring himself to apologize for harm done. We threw him, wife and baby, out of the mansion.

Cheating and lying in the name of God is endemic in Ghana.
