Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has shared her thoughts on comments made by South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams following his side’s disappointing defeat to Mexico in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

In a post shared on X on June 18, 2026, Nana Aba criticised the goalkeeper’s remarks about Africans supporting countries from other continents instead of backing South Africa.

According to Williams, he had become a target online and stressed that Africans should not mix football with politics.

He explained that it is time for African football fans to unite and separate politics from football, adding that xenophobic attacks in South Africa should not influence support during football matches.

“I have been a target over the last few days over things I never said. I didn’t speak about Africa and people supporting Mexico. As Africans, we are one, and we support each other in good and bad moments. We all have our own politics, our own problems, and our own battles back home; every country does.

“I’ve been attacked, and obviously my country as well, because of things happening back home. Players are human beings, too, and we go through these things. Sometimes it becomes overwhelming because all you want to do is focus on your job, which is playing football,” he said.

Following his remarks, Nana Aba Anamoah, in a post shared on X, argued that condemning xenophobic attacks against Africans should not be viewed as politics.

According to the media personality, such actions are about “basic human decency,” adding that unity begins with how people treat one another.

She also expressed support for Czechia ahead of their match against South Africa.

“Condemning xenophobia isn’t politics. It’s basic human decency. Unity starts with treating humans like fellow humans. Come on, CZECHIA,” she posted on X.
