Pete Edochie pays emotional tribute to Alexx Ekubo
Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Alexx Ekubo, describing him as a man of honour whose kindness and humility left a lasting impression on everyone who encountered him.
Speaking in a video shared on social media on June 25, 2026, Pete Edochie reflected on the three memorable occasions he met the late actor, saying each encounter revealed Alexx Ekubo's deep respect for elders and genuine character.
Quoting William Shakespeare, Edochie began his tribute by saying, "All the world is a stage and all the men and women are merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts.”
He continued, “Finally, my son Alexx Ekubo has been laid to rest. May the good Lord accept his gentle soul and grant him eternal rest.”
Recalling their first meeting, Pete Edochie said Alexx personally visited him at his hotel with a cow to invite him to the premiere of a movie he had produced with colleague Stan Nze.
According to him, upon arriving at the event, he was welcomed in grand style.
“I met Alexx thrice. On the first occasion, he came with a cow on set, to my hotel to invite me to the premiere of his film, which he had done with his friend, Stan Nze.

“I got there and I was ushered into the arena, onto the red carpet by masquerades. It was the biggest welcome I had received in Lagos. I’m never ever likely to forget it,” he recounted.
He noted that Alexx later visited him on two other occasions, including one memorable visit where the actor presented him with fruits, a kola nut and ₦100,000, asking him to offer prayers for him.
“On the second occasion, again he came to another hotel where I was lodged. He came with all his siblings to come and welcome me. On the third occasion, he came again to visit me in a hotel. He brought me fruits, then he put one kola nut in a saucer, wedged the kola with a ₦100,000 and requested that I pray for him,” he shared.
The veteran actor also disclosed that he had been informed Alexx Ekubo was making plans to celebrate his 80th birthday next year before his untimely passing.
“I was told he was planning big for my 80th birthday, which by the grace of God will be next year. He is gone now. Alexx was a man of honour,” he stated.
Pete Edochie further expressed gratitude to actor IK Ogbonna for standing by Alexx Ekubo throughout his life and even after his death.
“I want to specially thank IK Ogbonna. He proved himself a friend both in life and death. When Alexx came, he saw and he left an indelible impression,” he added.
