Akiyana applauds Benjamin Asare’s World Cup displays
Ghanaian musician Akiyana has expressed admiration for Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare following his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying that she has “four girls for him” if he returns to Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Akiyana admitted she is not a heavy football follower but has been closely watching Ghana’s matches in the ongoing tournament hosted in Canada, USA and Mexico.
“I am not a football fan but I have been following the Ghana matches and so far so good, I love the way they are playing now. They are really doing well,” she said.
When asked about standout players, she singled out the goalkeeper for praise.

Ghana is set to face Croatia in a decisive final Group L fixture on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Philadelphia.
Heading into the match, the Black Stars sit second in the group with four points, just behind leaders England, while Croatia are third with three points. Ghana need at least a draw, or a win, to secure qualification to the Round of 32.
Defensively, Ghana have been solid throughout the group stage, yet to concede a goal, a record they will aim to protect against a Croatian side that still has everything to play for.
The 2022 World Cup bronze medalists will approach the game aggressively, knowing that anything less than a win could see them exit the tournament at the group stage.
