Outspoken socialite and social justice commentator Afia Schwarzenegger has launched a scathing attack on various women's rights advocates and state institutions over what she described as their "deafening silence" regarding the alleged shooting of former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Expressing deep disappointment, Afia Schwarzenegger questioned why a woman who allegedly survived more than 40 gunshots fired by her younger brother, Israel Nana Kwadwo Akofena, has not received the level of public outrage and institutional support that such a serious case deserves.

She criticised the decision to grant Akofena bail, saying it was incomprehensible that someone facing such grave allegations could be walking freely while the complainant continues to live under fear and trauma.

To buttress her argument, Afia Schwarzenegger cited the case involving Ghanaian rapper Medical, who was remanded into prison custody after posing with what authorities believed to be a firearm in a photograph.

"Medikal merely held a gun and took a picture, yet he was remanded.

Here, we have a case in which someone is alleged to have sprayed bullets, and reports indicate firearms and several rounds of ammunition were recovered during a search, yet he is out on bail.

Is the law applied differently depending on who is involved?" she asked.

She passionately questioned whether the authorities were waiting for tragedy to strike before taking decisive action.

"Do you want to see Hon. Adwoa Safo die before you act?" she asked.

The outspoken social commentator then turned her attention to leading women and institutions that have championed women's rights.

"Where is Nana Oye Lithur, who's currently the Deputy Chief of Staff? Where is the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection, a ministry Hon. Adwoa Safo once headed?

Where is the Minority Women's Caucus?

Where are the women advocates who are always quick to speak against injustice meted out to women?" she demanded.

Afia Schwarzenegger further stated that the evidence already circulating publicly, including images allegedly showing more than 200 bullet holes in Adwoa Safo's vehicle, should have provoked stronger public outrage and a more forceful response from law enforcement agencies.

"Hon. Adwoa Safo has suffered immensely, yet everyone is sitting quietly as though nothing has happened.

Ghanaians cannot continue to look away while a woman's life is allegedly under threat," she said.

She concluded by calling on the Attorney-General to intervene by transferring the case from the lower court to a higher court, arguing that doing so would help ensure justice is served and restore public confidence in the administration of justice.

"I appeal to the Attorney-General to move this case from the lower court to a higher court so that justice can be done. Ghanaians must come together and demand justice for Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo," she appealed.
