Ghanaian actress and social activist Efia Odo has shared an emotional reaction to the recent flooding in Accra, questioning why so many residents felt compelled to brave the heavy rains rather than stay safely indoors.

In a post on social media on June 29, 2026, Efia Odo expressed disbelief that despite hours of relentless rainfall, countless Ghanaians still ventured out of their homes simply to make ends meet.

"It blows my mind that it rained for hours, yet so many people still felt they had no choice but to leave their homes just to make a living. We've been conditioned to believe that making money comes before our own safety, even when the consequences can be deadly. In many ways, we're subconsciously becoming the walking dead!!!" she wrote.

The actress called for decisive, non-partisan action to address Ghana's recurring flooding crisis.

"Politics must be put aside and urgent action must be taken to address these recurring floods. Year after year lives are lost, homes, properties and businesses are damaged!" she stressed.

Efia Odo's remarks add to a growing chorus of Ghanaian celebrities and public figures speaking out following the latest round of flooding, with many demanding lasting solutions rather than temporary sympathy after each disaster.

"Ghanaians deserve infrastructure and long-term solutions that protect lives, not just promises after every disaster," she added.

Her comments come amid public frustration over what many describe as a yearly cycle of flooding, damage, and unfulfilled government promises, with calls intensifying for sustainable infrastructure investment to finally break the pattern.
