Reverend Obofour is a Ghanaian preacher
Founder and leader of Anointed Palace Chapel (APC), Rev Obofour, has shared his thoughts on the challenges many African women face in marriage, particularly regarding childbirth, divorce and inheritance.
Speaking while preaching to his congregation, the preacher mentioned that many women dedicate their lives to supporting their families, only to be left with nothing when their husbands die, or marriages collapse.
According to him, it is unfortunate that some women invest years of sacrifice into their marriages but are later denied recognition for their contributions.
“I feel pity for women in Africa. They will get married, put all their time and effort into the marriage and then give birth. By the time she realises, her husband will die and the family members will fight her for the properties. If the husband doesn’t die and they divorce, the man will say she didn’t do anything but only him who achieved everything,” he said.
Obofour also highlighted the physical and emotional burden women endure during pregnancy and childbirth, arguing that such sacrifices are often overlooked.
“She will be pregnant for nine months, then go into labour. If your account is to be deducted by the suffering the women go through, you will be left with nothing,” he stated.

Drawing from his own experience, the preacher said he recently struggled to cope with a growing stomach, making him appreciate the discomfort pregnant women go through.
“Just this past few days that my tummy is growing big, I could barely breathe. I had to try and exercise for it to go down,” he shared.
He further urged Ghanaians to abandon what he described as a selfish mindset and embrace a culture of mutual support and fairness.
“If you’re building your life and you put in your mind that each one for himself and you have to survive, the technical thinking of slavery will be cut off,” he noted.
Obofour also criticised the tendency to automatically accept the views of older people while dismissing those of the youth.
“I always pray that our mind will get to a certain point in this country. When a child says something, it’s always dismissed, but when an old person says the same thing, it’s accepted. The day God will open our minds for us to debunk these things, everything in Ghana will go well,” he said.
He added that age should not automatically be equated with wisdom, noting that some elderly people can be dishonest or offer poor guidance.
“The old can kill, lie and some can’t give positive advice. Pray to God that you will meet someone to do life with you peacefully till you go far. Not the hypocrites who will pretend to be with us,” he added.
