Akwaaba UK CEO, Dennis Tawiah has dismissed allegations that he and his organisation attempted to stop Ghanaian music duo DopeNation from performing at Stonebwoy's BHIMFest UK 2026.
The claims were made by entertainment commentator and social media personality Darlington Adams in a trending video, where he alleged that top UK promoters Akwaaba UK and Alordia had asked DopeNation not to perform at the event scheduled for August 15, 2026.
Adams questioned why the promoters had allegedly failed to book the duo for their own events while attempting to prevent them from performing at another promoter's show, describing it as an attempt to sabotage Stonebwoy's concert.
However, speaking to GhanaWeb's Isaac Dadzie on July 15, 2026, Dennis Tawiah described the allegations as false and accused Adams of creating content to generate attention.
"There’s no truth in that allegation. It is just content someone was creating. I have a good relationship with DopeNation. I have been in touch with them and I have no issues with them. I just spoke to Stonebwoy’s team. We are all on good terms," he said.
Dennis further rejected claims that he had ever prevented any artiste from performing at another event, stressing that DopeNation had previously performed at Akwaaba UK's Party in the Park 2025.
"I have never asked anyone not to perform with anyone. In the video, he was even saying DopeNation had a hit song last year, and I didn’t call them up for a show. Meanwhile, DopeNation themselves performed at Party in the Park 2025. They were on stage. There are videos and pictures to prove it," he stated.
According to him, there was no contractual arrangement that would allow him to stop DopeNation from appearing at BHIMFest UK.
"I have no exclusive contract with them. The only thing I can do is ask if they have any performance with Stonebwoy. I cannot tell them not to perform on his stage," he added.
Dennis also argued that the allegation was illogical, noting that DopeNation already had other performances in the UK around the same period.
"DopeNation has a show in the UK a week before Party in the Park 2026, and they even have another show in Scotland on the same day as Party in the Park on August 1. So I should have rather asked them not to perform on those days instead of a show that takes place days after that. So all this is just content to set up an agenda. There is no truth to it," he said.
Meanwhile, DopeNation's camp declined to comment on the allegations, stating that the group does not want to be drawn into any controversy and remains focused on its ongoing Europe tour.
