Ghanaian gospel musician Selina Boateng has urged Christians to stop judging people based on their appearance, insisting that God is concerned with a person's deeds rather than their hairstyle or cultural practices.
Speaking on Max TV on July 16, 2026, the singer said some people wear certain hairstyles simply because they are part of their culture, just as others grow up in communities where practices such as pouring libation are cultural traditions.
According to her, having dreadlocks does not make someone a bad person, just as not having dreadlocks does not automatically make someone righteous.
"There are people who have dreads but have never smoked weed or are bad people. In the same way, there are people who don't have dreads but have been committing sins," she said.

Selina Boateng stressed that God will not judge people based on their outward appearance but on how they lived their lives.
"It is not your rasta that God will use to judge you. It is your deeds," she stated.
She added that sins such as fornication, adultery and alcoholism are among the things God looks at when judging people, urging those who believe they are righteous simply because they do not wear dreadlocks to reconsider their actions.
"God uses your deeds to judge you, not how you look," she concluded.
