Ghanaian actor Yaw Dabo has opened up about his viral interaction with England midfielder Jude Bellingham following Ghana’s clash with England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, revealing how the football star prevented him from falling during their meeting.

Speaking in a recent interview, Dabo recounted that Bellingham was the one who instructed security personnel to help him down from a high platform where he had been standing due to his height.

According to the actor, the security guard failed to properly support him while bringing him down, causing him to almost fall before Bellingham quickly stepped in to catch him.

“Jude was the one who told the security to bring me down, but I almost fell. The security didn’t hold me well, so Jude was the one who caught me and put me down. He was the one who requested that I be brought down,” Dabo said.

The actor further disclosed that before meeting Bellingham, he had asked former England captain John Terry to inform the Real Madrid midfielder that he was waiting to see him.

When Bellingham eventually arrived, he confirmed that Terry had indeed delivered the message but explained that he had been occupied with media duties after being named Man of the Match.

“I told him, ‘Jude, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.’ He explained that he had won Man of the Match, so he had interviews to do, but John Terry had told him I was waiting. We then started talking. We had a lot of conversations that I didn’t even record,” he said.

Yaw Dabo also revealed that Bellingham had initially promised to give him his match jersey after the game. However, the England international later explained that he could not part with it after realizing the match against Ghana marked his 50th appearance for the England national team.

According to Dabo, Bellingham instead promised to gift him one of his Real Madrid jerseys in the future.

“He told me he’d give me his jersey, but the Ghana vs England game was his 50th match for England, so he wanted to keep that jersey. He said he would give me one of his Real Madrid jerseys instead,” he revealed.

The actor added that he later verified Bellingham’s claim after seeing posts from the England national team on social media commemorating the midfielder’s milestone appearance.
