'My church went down after my son's death' - Prophet Badu Kobi

Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, founder of Glorious Wave Church International, has spoken about the challenges that led to the decline of his membership following years of public attacks and controversies.

Speaking in an interview on Adom TV on July 22, 2026, the preacher said his difficulties began after the death of his son, who was a student at Ashesi University, in 2017.

"People started spreading rumours that I had killed my son. That I had joined the occult and had used my son for rituals. Such rumours started scaring people off," he said.

Badu Kobi also recalled allegations made against him by former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, claiming he was accused of using drugs.

"He said that I smoke weed. That I take liquid cocaine. That I have killed a lot of people. I was shocked. What the honourable did to me hurt me," he said.

The prophet described the attacks as politically motivated and orchestrated by people who secretly disliked him despite pretending to support him.

Reflecting on the experience, Badu Kobi said the ordeal exposed those who were not genuinely loyal to him and strengthened his resolve to leave vengeance to God.

"Those years actually exposed those who pretended to love me but secretly hated me. It was good for me in a way. I have left everything to God.

"One thing I've noticed: When someone offends you and you retaliate, it's only for a short while. But when God avenges you, it is very nice. I have left everything to God," he said.
