Renowned actress and media personality, Joselyn Dumas
Celebrated Ghanaian actress and media personality Joselyn Dumas has made a passionate appeal to investors to back the nation's creative sector, insisting that talent alone is not enough to sustain creative careers.
Speaking at the Creative Economy Summit in Accra on July 22, 2026, the award-winning star identified funding and distribution as the major hurdles stifling local creators.
"It's not just about it being a good project; you need investors. So one of the things that we are lacking, one of the biggest gaps here is investors. So if there are any investors here, I'm calling on you. We are ready; we have products," Dumas stated.
She called for a better supportive framework, adding, "There are so many talented individuals created here in Ghana. We just need to create an ecosystem that makes it very easy for us to thrive as creators."
Highlighting distribution as another barrier, Dumas lamented that many brilliant Ghanaian projects remain unseen on hard drives due to limited market access beyond local TV and cinemas.
Drawing on her experience working in Nigeria and South Africa, she acknowledged the market size challenges but stressed Ghana's readiness for growth.
"I keep hearing the numbers thing. We don't have the numbers in Ghana; Nigeria has the numbers, but we are happy to partner," she noted.
