Ex-manager claims Kofi Nti was kept in the dark over 'Odo Nwom' remix
A copyright dispute appears to be brewing over the forthcoming remix of "Odo Nwom."
King Pee, former manager of Highlife musician Kofi Nti and Chief Executive Officer of Central Multimedia, has threatened legal action against everyone involved in the project.
According to King Pee, the original "Odo Nwom", released in 2004 and featuring Ofori Amponsah, belongs to Kofi Nti, making him the rightful owner of the song.
Speaking in an interview on Adom TV, King Pee claimed Kofi Nti was unaware that a remix was being planned until teasers of the collaboration surfaced on social media.
He further alleged that Ofori Amponsah did not seek Kofi Nti's approval before announcing the project.
"Kofi Nti knew nothing about the song until it was teased to the public. Everyone involved in the remix of the song 'Odo Nwom' will face legal action,” he said.

He maintained that the planned remix constitutes a breach of copyright, insisting that all parties involved, including Stonebwoy and KiDi, could face legal consequences for participating in the project.
King Pee argued that although Ofori Amponsah featured on the original record, he does not have the authority to remake or remix it without the consent of its owner.
“Odo Nwom belongs to Kofi Nti. Ofori Amponsah was only featured on it, so he cannot decide to remix it simply because he was featured on the song,” he noted.
The controversy follows the recent announcement of a star-studded remake of the classic Highlife hit.
Legendary Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah has teamed up with award-winning artistes Stonebwoy and KiDi for a remix of "Odo Nwom", with teasers of the collaboration already generating excitement on social media.
The remix blends Ofori Amponsah's signature Highlife sound with Stonebwoy's Dancehall influence and KiDi's Afrobeats style.
Ahead of the official release, Stonebwoy also shared a snippet of the remix on his social media pages, giving fans a preview of the highly anticipated collaboration.
