MC Yaa Yeboah has spoken on Dr Bawumia's response to the arest
Media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has disagreed with NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's act of distancing himself from the prosecution of NDC Branch Organiser Prince Aboagye.
According to her, the gesture fell short of what was truly needed.
Speaking on media personality Vida Adutwumwaa's YouTube channel, Yaa Yeboah said she was left underwhelmed by Bawumia's response, particularly because the statement offered forgiveness without any condemnation of the offensive remarks that triggered the arrest in the first place.
"The thing about Dr Bawumia is that he comes across as a very peaceful man. We love that for him. But his reaction to this incident, I am very disappointed. Because in the whole statement, I didn't see anywhere he condemned the act," she said.
The media personality said Dr. Bawumia's response was driven more by political calculation, arguing that the NPP flagbearer was aware of the electoral consequences of allowing the prosecution to proceed.
"That is the politician politricking at play. Because he knows that the moment he allows the authorities to arrest and prosecute him, he will lose their vote," she said.
Vida Adutwumwaa, who hosted the discussion, also questioned the forgiving statement given the gravity of the allegations made against Bawumia by the NDC organiser.
"For Christ's sake, someone has accused you of allegedly killing your former PA and doing something with someone's wife. And then you release a statement forgiving him and wishing him well. So after releasing such a statement, should it just go like that?" she asked.

The comments come after Bawumia's office issued a statement calling for the release of Prince Aboagye and the discontinuation of his prosecution, after the NDC Agona West Constituency Branch Organiser was arrested over alleged offensive remarks directed at the former vice president.
In the statement, Bawumia's office said he had neither lodged any complaint nor sanctioned the prosecution, adding that "the answer to offensive speech is better speech, and the answer to falsehood is truth, not handcuffs, courtrooms, and crushing bail conditions imposed on ordinary Ghanaians."
Bawumia also called on the Ghana Police Service and the Attorney-General to discontinue the prosecution, saying "Ghana's democracy is strengthened when citizens, including those who oppose us, can speak freely without fear."
Prince Aboagye was granted GH¢200,000 bail by an Accra Circuit Court on Monday, July 20, 2026, with three sureties, one of whom must justify the bond with landed property.
