'I carried heavy building blocks' - Agradaa shares prison experience

Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, has opened up about some of the challenges she endured during her time in prison, dismissing claims that she received special treatment because of her public profile.

In a video circulating on social media, the founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry recounted being assigned to physically demanding labour after spending about a year behind bars.

According to Agradaa, inmates serving longer prison terms are usually required to spend more time inside the prison before they are selected for outdoor work.

She explained that once she was assigned to work outside, her duties involved repeatedly carrying heavy building blocks from inside the prison to outside and back again.

Agradaa said the strenuous work took a toll on her health, revealing that she fell ill because of the demanding nature of the labour.

“It wasn’t easy at all. We carried blocks from inside the prison to the outside, and when returning, we carried another block back inside. We did that over and over again. It is a serious matter,” she said.

She also addressed speculation from some members of the public who claimed she was never imprisoned, saying her appearance after regaining her freedom led many to doubt her incarceration.

“I came back and heard people saying Agradaa never went to prison. I just looked at them quietly and said it is God. That is why I look like I was never in prison,” she stated.

Reflecting on her experience, Agradaa said she endured pain, tears and hardship that many other inmates did not experience, partly because of the attention she attracted upon entering the prison.

“The pain I went through in prison, not everyone went through that because when I got there, all eyes were on me,” she said.

Despite the ordeal, Agradaa said she has chosen not to dwell on her experiences, expressing gratitude to God for showing her mercy.

She added that, in hindsight, receiving special treatment because of her celebrity status might not have benefited her, stating that she might still have been locked up.
