'I didn't even have GH¢1 until I met Vivian Jill' - Maa Adwoa

Comic actress Maa Adwoa has expressed appreciation to filmmaker and actress Vivian Jill Lawrence for the immense support she has shown her and her children over the years.

Maa Adwoa, who became known for her role in Vivian Jill’s popular ‘Abrewa Maafia’ series said the actress has played a huge role in improving her life and ensuring that she and her children do not go through hardship.

Speaking on Jill’s Foundation, aired on YouTube on July 26, 2026, Maa Adwoa revealed that the support she has received from Vivian Jill has enabled her to rent her own apartment, something she believes may not have been possible without the filmmaker’s assistance.

She explained that before meeting Vivian Jill, her living conditions were extremely difficult, adding that the actress’ generosity and care have made a major impact on her life.

“Because of the support Vivian Jill has given me, I have been able to rent an apartment and have a place to call home. The money she gives me and everything she does for me have made a huge difference in my life. If I had not met her, those who knew my situation before would understand the condition I was living in, and I may not even be alive today,” she said.

Maa Adwoa also recounted an incident when she fell seriously ill while in Kumasi. According to her, Vivian Jill, who was in Accra at the time, called to check on her after hearing that she was unwell.

She said after informing Vivian Jill that she was weak, the filmmaker immediately instructed her to contact the driver who usually takes her to shooting locations so she could be taken to the hospital.

Despite being in Accra, Vivian Jill assured her that she would travel to Kumasi to visit her.

Maa Adwoa said shortly after she arrived at the hospital, Vivian Jill also arrived to check on her, describing the gesture as something even her own family members might not have been able to do.

She added that Vivian Jill stayed with her throughout her treatment period and later prepared food for her to eat.

Maa Adwoa explained that she had been unable to eat or drink for about three months due to her condition until Vivian Jill stepped in and ensured she received medical care.

She further praised Vivian Jill for the kindness she has shown her, stressing that the support has restored her dignity and changed how she is viewed in society.

“My children and I appreciate her so much. If not for her, I would have been considered a nobody in society, even though I am also a human being. I acted for over 16 years, yet I did not have even GH¢1 saved anywhere because I was not being paid for my work. But when I started working with this woman, Vivian Jill, things changed.

“Even when we go out and it is not work-related, whenever she drops me off, she gives me money, which I use to take care of my children,” Maa Adwoa added.
