‘Why are you treating Charles like a chicken’ - Akosua Brempomaa laments

Akosua Brempomaa, sister of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has questioned the manner in which the music icon was treated after his death.

Speaking in a video circulating on social media, Akosua Brempomaa insisted that the celebrated musician was not given a befitting burial.

She then posed a question to the individuals who handled his burial and matters surrounding his death.

“Why are you so wicked, treating Charles like a chicken and not a human being? Why do you do that to him? Did you go to school to learn and prey on the needy?” she quizzed.

Akosua Brempomaa further expressed disappointment over how some people Daddy Lumba allegedly helped during his lifetime have remained silent following his death.

According to her, the late musician sponsored the education of several individuals, with some reportedly going on to study law and become lawyers. She questioned why those beneficiaries have abandoned his legacy and failed to stand by his family.

“Charles was able to put some people through school. Charles really helped some people. Some even went to law school and became lawyers, so where are they? Where are you? Those of you Charles helped, where are you?” she said.

Her remarks come shortly after the family finally unveiled the burial site of the legendary musician, bringing an end to weeks of speculation over where he had been laid to rest.

Daddy Lumba, regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest highlife musicians, passed away in July 2025, leaving behind an enduring musical legacy spanning decades.
