The Ghana Police Service have reportedly stopped the hearse scheduled to transport the remains of the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka from Transitions Funeral Home.
According to reports shared by CDR Africa, the hearse was halted by the police in connection with the interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court seeking to suspend the funeral proceedings.
“Police have stopped the hearse meant to transport the body of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka from Transitions Funeral Home over a court order, while the funeral continues in Gomoa,” CDR Africa’s caption read.
The development comes as thousands of mourners have gathered at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region for the final funeral rites of the founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, despite the ongoing legal battle over the arrangements.
The funeral grounds have been filled with sympathisers from across the country, with buses transporting mourners to the venue.
Among the personalities present were Kumawood actress Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu, fashion entrepreneur Osebo the Zaraman, traditional leaders, family members, church members and admirers who came to honour the late inventor and religious leader.
The reported police intervention adds another layer to the dispute surrounding Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s burial, following an order by the Accra High Court on Tuesday, July 29, 2026.
The court granted a 10-day interim injunction restraining former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, from proceeding with the funeral arrangements pending the determination of a case before the court.
The order was issued to preserve the status quo while the court considers the substantive issues in the case.
