‘Adwoa Safo will secretly bury a decoy body to deceive her followers’ — Kristo Asafo Mission

The leadership of Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has alleged that it has gathered intelligence suggesting former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, intends to secretly bury what it describes as a “decoy” body instead of the actual remains of the late founder of the church, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The allegation was contained in a statement issued by the church on July 30, 2026, as the dispute over the burial of the renowned industrialist and religious leader continues to deepen.

Addressing members of the church who have been calling for what it describes as a befitting burial for its founder, the leadership claimed it had received information regarding an alleged plan to conduct a secret burial using a body other than that of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The church said it would not accept any burial it believes does not involve the actual body of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

It maintained that even if a “decoy” body is allegedly buried, it will continue to demand custody of what it describes as the founder’s actual remains so he can be accorded the befitting burial it believes he deserves.

“Again, to all our members who desire a befitting burial for our beloved Founder, we have been made aware of an intention by Adwoa Safo not to lay our beloved Founder and father in state, but to use a decoy and clandestinely bury a fake body so that her followers may believe our beloved Founder has been buried.

“We therefore wish to inform all our members that even if a decoy is clandestinely buried, we shall continue to demand the actual body of our dear Founder to accord him the befitting burial he so much deserved,” the statement read.

The latest claims come amid an ongoing legal dispute over the funeral and burial arrangements of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, whose passing has sparked disagreements between factions over how and by whom the final rites should be conducted.

Despite a 10-day interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court restraining funeral and burial activities, the first part of the late founder’s final funeral rites was held at the Apostle Safo Suaye Centre in Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region on July 30, 2026.

The High Court granted the interim injunction on Wednesday, July 29, following an application filed by Kristo Asafo Mission over matters relating to the estate of the late religious leader and industrialist.

The court order specifically restrains former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, from proceeding with the funeral and burial arrangements of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka until the case is further determined by the court.
