Empress Gifty is a gospel Ghanaian singer
Gospel musician Empress Gifty has expressed frustration over the criticism she has received on social media after a video of her dancing during a church service went viral.
Recently, a video surfaced online showing the gospel singer joyfully dancing during a church service held at the UPSA Auditorium.
Following the circulation of the video, some social media users questioned her manner of dancing, particularly because it took place in the presence of a pastor.
' Paid to insult me will be dealt with' - Empress Gifty warns
Tackling the series of criticisms, Empress Gifty, in a video shared on TikTok and sighted by GhanaWeb on August 21, 2026, strongly cautioned individuals against what she described as unwarranted attacks.
According to her, she has endured many challenges in life and therefore understands the significance of being in the presence of God.
While expressing her displeasure, the gospel singer urged critics to be mindful of their comments, warning that the recent mockery and negative remarks should be the first and last time such criticisms are directed at her.
“When I was selling cassava at Site 1 and Site 2, where were you? Now that God has blessed me, you are here trying to tell me how to behave in church. This should be your first and last time telling me how I should behave in church. Aren’t you even ashamed of yourselves?
“I was in the house of God, not at a nightclub or a funeral ground. May God forgive you people, but be careful so that His wrath does not come upon you. Be mindful of how you speak about me, or the spirit around me may turn against you, especially on Sundays,” she said.
Further recounting the trials and hardships she has encountered, Empress Gifty said she once slept in churches because she had no proper place to stay.

She also revealed that she used to sell cassava in areas she described as ghettos before achieving success.
“I know where I came from, even now that I am a CEO. Sometimes, when I drive home and get to my house, I ask myself if I am really the same person. Where were you when I was sleeping in churches?
“You will never understand the grace upon my life. Just because there is a pastor present, I should not dance? If that is your problem, then don’t dance when you go to church,” she added.
