Bishop Daniel Obinim has spoken publicly for the first time following reports of his alleged divorce from gospel musician Florence Obinim.
Recent reports stated that Florence had initiated a traditional divorce after more than two decades of marriage, returning drinks to the preacher’s family, a symbolic act in Ghanaian culture that signals the end of a union.
Addressing his congregation during a church service on September 8, 2026, Obinim denied claims that he had declared himself uninterested in the marriage.
In a video shared by Gossipis24 Avenue and sighted by GhanaWeb, Bishop Obinim, while detailing the cause of the breakup, confirmed that he had earlier been approached by relatives of Florence Obinim, who claimed the gospel musician said he had initiated the divorce.
According to him, the relatives, identified as Sister Abena, Elder Antwi, and Brother Frank, informed him that Florence was accusing him of saying he was no longer interested in the marriage, which explained his decision to leave their matrimonial home.
Bishop Obinim's divorce saga takes new twist as fresh details emerge
“Florence Obinim’s family came to me in Kumasi. God being so good, my eldest daughter, Gifted Obinim, was there, so I made her sit inside the meeting as a witness. The people who came to my house were Brother Frank, Sister Abena, and Elder Antwi.
“They said Florence said I have left our home and that I was no longer interested in the marriage. I made them aware that I have left home, but I didn’t say I was no longer interested in the marriage. If I am lying, may God ensure that the number of my church reduces to only five people,” he said.
Bishop Obinim added that he asked Florence’s family to relay to her that the only way their marriage could work is if she disassociates herself from Prophet Ogyaba and publicly apologises on social media for tarnishing his image.
“I made them aware that if Florence Obinim wants me to return home, she should disassociate herself from Ogyaba and also come on social media to apologise,” he maintained.
Further detailing the issue, Bishop Obinim noted that after a week, the individual who was supposed to give him a response failed to communicate with him.
According to him, he personally followed up by calling one of the relatives, only to find out that Florence Obinim had refused to publicly apologise on social media or stop associating with people he described as ‘enemies’.
“After they left my house to go tell Florence what I had told them, no one called me for about a week. I personally called them to follow up. That was when I was told Florence Obinim said she can’t stop being friends with the people, and also that she can apologise on social media.

“I made them aware that I am not going to forgive her if she doesn’t apologise for bringing our marital issues on social media. I even recorded our meeting and also the phone interaction. I even asked my children, Gifted and Angel, to go and ask their mother why she was choosing friends over me,” he added.
Bishop Obinim further noted that after his interaction with Florence Obinim’s family, he later learned that the gospel musician had returned drinks to his father as a formal request for divorce.
“They didn’t say anything, and about two weeks later, my father called me to make me aware that Florence Obinim had brought drinks and was asking for a divorce.
“I told my father that since she had chosen outsiders over me, they should go ahead and accept the drinks,” Obinim claimed.
