‘That video alone speaks a lot’ - Ras Kuuku condemns Sarkodie’s post after Stonebwoy’s concert

Reggae musician Ras Kuuku has slammed Sarkodie over a ridiculing social media post he shared after Stonebwoy’s OVO concert, arguing that the rapper’s actions were inappropriate and deserved public condemnation.

Speaking in an interview with 3Music, Ras Kuuku said Sarkodie’s decision to post a video of a physically disabled man walking shortly after Stonebwoy’s show sent the wrong message and undermined the sense of unity Ghanaians should uphold.

“The truth is one; we should always face it and say it. After Stonebwoy’s show, the video of a cripple walking that my brother Sarkodie posted wasn’t good at all,” he said.

According to Ras Kuuku, industry stakeholders and disability advocacy groups should have spoken out against the post instead of remaining silent.

“People should have called him to order, ‘My brother, we are all Ghanaians. We are one people. He shouldn’t have done that.’ Even the associations that see to these things should have come out and condemned that video,” he stated.

The reggae artiste argued that the post carried a message that went beyond fan rivalry, insisting it portrayed division rather than national unity.

“That video alone means we are not one people. That video alone speaks a lot. How can you do that?” he questioned.

Drawing a comparison, Ras Kuuku said it would be equally wrong for someone to mock a visually impaired person similarly, stressing that public figures should be more mindful of the content they share.

“So imagine somebody does something, maybe a visually impaired person, then me coming out posting a blind person not finding his way. We should condemn some things. We shouldn’t think some artistes are mental. No, we are all human beings,” he said.

He concluded by reminding Ghanaians that regardless of their differences, they represent one nation whenever they travel abroad.

“We are all one people. People wake up, brush their teeth, and go to the toilet. When we travel out there, we are all Ghanaians,” Ras Kuuku added.
