It's simple. Some people are just evil and nothing will change that. They may belong to a church but remain UNTRANSFORMED or UNCHANGED. In fact, they may make victims of some of the church members by scamming them financially, exploiting them sexually, etc. Such persons are just evil. Obviously, that church does not tell or encourage their members to murder people and steal their possessions.

Similarly, you and I (everyone of us) may belong to a church, a mosque, a shrine, etc but still continue to tell lies, envy others, gossip, cheat, steal, etc. Ghanaians are cheats and thieves yet most of us belong to one religion or the other because we refuse to be transformed.

Apparently, there are Church goers and also true believers. These days most pastors are scared of preaching against sin in our churches because they fear that those who will be uncomfortable with their messages will leave. But it is better to lead few members to heaven than to lead 1000s of congregrant to hell. That lady in question goes to church but she is filled with the spirit of satan.

Why must we assume that the church is a place for the righteous. Certainly not. The church is a place where people who have come to the realization that they can’t do it on on their own come to seek for help. When a religion is built around a teacher–student relationship, the conduct of the teacher inevitably becomes a model for the student. When students repeatedly witness certain behaviors being openly practiced, rewarded, and left without consequences, they can naturally begin to see those behaviors as acceptable—even when they are exploitative, dishonest, or morally wrong.

So what happens when pastors enrich themselves at the expense of impoverished congregants? When cooking oil is repackaged and sold as a “miracle potion,” ordinary salt water is marketed as “holy water,” and desperate people are pressured into buying “miracle envelopes,” while church leaders drive luxury cars and live in mansions?

What exactly is the lesson being taught?

The danger is not merely financial exploitation. It is the normalization of exploitation in the name of God. When such conduct goes unchecked, followers can be conditioned to believe that deception, greed, manipulation, and even criminal acts are somehow compatible with Christianity.

And that raises a deeply uncomfortable question: If God is truly the Almighty Creator of the entire universe, why is He always “broke”? Why would He supposedly need the money of the poor to accomplish His work?

Why would an all-powerful God depend on the last cedi or pesewa of struggling people—or, worse, on money obtained through criminal activity—to sustain His supposed representatives?

At some point, we have to stop confusing faith with unquestioning obedience and start asking whether some people are using the name of God to legitimize their own greed and wrongdoing.

If the message is truly from God, why does it so often seem to be the teacher—the preacher—rather than the poor believer who becomes richer?

That question deserves an honest answer, not dismissal.
