Efia Odo is a media personality and socialite
Ghanaian socialite has criticised the explanation that economic challenges are affecting the rollout of the Black Star Experience, describing it as a “flimsy excuse”.
Speaking on United Showbiz, Efia Odo questioned why the initiative, which was expected to begin almost two years ago, has still not seen significant progress, arguing that those responsible for its execution must be held accountable.
“It’s an excuse, honestly, because as I said, at the end of the day, there’s no money, but everyday people are eating, people are chopping, people are going out, we are chilling, and you can’t speak for everybody,” she said.

Efia Odo said she believes the delay cannot simply be blamed on the current economic situation, especially since discussions around the economy have also suggested improvements.
“I also feel like it’s an excuse because the initiative you guys were supposed to start last year, it’s been a year and a half, almost going to two years, and we have not seen anything? Then they are not doing the job well; somebody needs to be held accountable,” she added.
The socialite questioned the management of the initiative, stating that whoever was put in charge of the Black star experience should answer for the delays.
“Whoever they put the Black Star experience into their hands, they need to be held accountable for why, for almost two years, nothing has been done; and then now the excuse you have is that people don’t have money and the economy is bad,” she said.
Directing a question at Kumchacha, Efia Odo also questioned the contradiction between claims that the economy is improving and the argument that economic difficulties are affecting the initiative.
“But I thought, Kumchacha, you said that Mahama has been improving. He has improved; the economy is doing well. So why is Mr Rex Omar saying the opposite?” she asked.
She argued that the Black Star Experience has the potential to create jobs and support local businesses, including food vendors, while boosting Ghana’s tourism sector.
“Because the Black Star Experience will create employment for people. Food vendors would be there, and it’s also going to boost tourism. Is it not? So how are you contradicting yourself so much?” Efia Odo added.
