Ghanaian musician Mr Drew has called for a broader and more inclusive music industry, arguing that too much attention is often given to a small group of artistes.

According to the ‘Case’ hitmaker, the Ghanaian music industry has the potential to grow significantly if more artistes are given opportunities to showcase their talents.

Speaking in a recent interview on Onua FM, Mr Drew said the industry had been made to appear smaller than it actually is, because the same artistes and names continue to dominate major platforms.

“The industry is so big for all of us, but sometimes, we’ve made it so small. We’ve made it look like it revolves around a few people, and this is not helping the industry to go far,” he said.

He noted that several talented musicians are struggling to get the attention they deserve because opportunities continue to be concentrated among a select group of established artistes.

“There are so many good artistes who are not getting attention, but over the years, the industry has been built around a few people. If those few people are scattering things, everybody else suffers,” he stated.

Mr Drew also pointed out that the same names often dominate performances, events and music lineups, limiting the chances of other talented artistes to prove themselves.

“Meanwhile, it can be bigger. Every day, it’s the same people, the same names and the same lineups. If the other good artistes are given the platform, they can even do more,” he added.
