Odo Broni honours Daddy Lumba’s birthday by paying medical bills at Korle Bu Hospital
Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, widow of the late Highlife musician Daddy Lumba, has marked what would have been her late husband’s 62nd birthday with an act of kindness at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Odo Broni joined Daddy Lumba’s sister, Faustina Fosu, as well as friends and other family members to extend financial support to patients receiving treatment at the hospital.
As part of the gesture, the group settled the medical bills of new mothers who were unable to afford the cost of their care and also provided assistance to patients battling leukemia.
Odo Broni further paid the medical bills of all mothers who delivered their babies at the hospital on September 29, in honour of Daddy Lumba.
Explaining the motivation behind her decision to support patients, she said she was inspired by the experience of her late mother-in-law, Comfort Ama Saah Gyamfi, who died after battling leukemia.

“My mother-in-law had leukemia and died, and anytime my late husband spoke about her, he wept. That’s why I have come to donate money to mothers whose children are battling cancer,” she said.
Each of the mothers who received the cancer-related financial support was given GH¢3,000 to assist with their needs.
For Odo Broni, the gesture was also a way of keeping alive the memory of her late husband by using his birthday to bring relief to people going through difficult circumstances.
She also used the occasion to celebrate Daddy Lumba’s life and the lasting impact he made through his music.
In a tribute to the late musician, Odo Broni reflected on how his songs have continued to connect with Ghanaians despite his death.
She noted that although Daddy Lumba is no longer physically present, his voice, music and the memories associated with his career remain an important part of the lives of his fans.
According to her, his songs have provided joy, comfort and memorable moments for millions of people, while his name and musical legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was one of Ghana’s most influential Highlife musicians. He died on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60.
