Pope Skinny says younger leaders would take over Ghana after Asiedu Nketiah’s presidency
Ghanaian musician Pope Skinny has endorsed the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, as the next president of Ghana.
Speaking to media personality Nana Romeo, Pope Skinny said he is not particularly interested in politics but admired certain individuals in the political space, including Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito.
According to the musician, his admiration for the NDC chairman stems from his long years in active politics and what he considers to be his unblemished public image.
Pope Skinny noted that despite spending more than 40 years in politics, Asiedu Nketiah has not been linked to any corruption scandal or controversy that could tarnish his reputation.
“I’m not really interested in politics, but there are some people I love so much. My favourite is General Mosquito, Asiedu Nketiah. I believe he will be the next president of Ghana. He has worked very hard, and despite spending over 40 years in politics, nobody can link him to any corruption scandal,” he noted.

The musician also addressed arguments by some of his senior colleagues that Ghana does not need an elderly person as its next president.
He was referring to comments made by politician and musician A-Plus, who has advocated for younger people to take up leadership positions.
Pope Skinny argued that an Asiedu Nketiah presidency could serve as a stepping stone toward younger leadership in the country.
He said after the NDC chairman had served as president, Ghana could turn to younger people to lead the country.
He argued that a younger leader might struggle to continue Mahama's work at this stage, adding that an experienced politician such as Asiedu Nketiah would be better positioned to maintain momentum.
Pope Skinny also spoke about what he considers to be positive developmental changes under the current administration, citing improvements in road infrastructure and security as some of the developments he has observed.
He pointed to the construction of roads that were previously in deplorable condition and said security in Ghana was better than it had been in the past.
