Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has criticised renowned preacher Pastor Mensa Otabil over his comments on the prophetic ministry and the conduct of some Ghanaian prophets.

In a video shared on social media on November 3, 2026, Kumchacha expressed displeasure over what he described as the tendency of some senior pastors to criticise prophets while venturing into areas outside their ministerial calling.

He referenced a past disagreement with Pastor Otabil, claiming that the preacher once described him as illiterate after he challenged some of his teachings.

“I’ve seen some videos trending on social media about Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah and Pastor Mensah Otabil. A lot of pastors in this country are nonchalant. Some time ago, Mensah Otabil brought out some teachings, and I spoke about them. The man later told me that I’m illiterate because he’s a teacher and I wanted to challenge his teachings,” he said.

Kumchacha questioned why a pastor who identifies primarily as a teacher would venture into prophetic ministry instead of concentrating on his area of expertise.

“As a teacher that you claim to be, why will you now leave your teaching field and enter the prophetic field? Our father Mensa Otabil, stay in your lane so that nobody will disrespect you. If some prophets are misbehaving, it is we the prophets who should speak about it,” he shared.

He argued that when prophets speak about misconduct within their ranks, they should not be dismissed because they are not teachers.

According to him, religious leaders should focus on their respective areas of ministry and avoid making statements that could invite disrespect from others.

“If you misbehave and we’re talking about it, you would say I’m not a teacher. If you don’t stay in your lane, even children will disregard you,” he stated.

Kumchacha also accused some senior pastors of applying what he considers double standards when discussing the activities of prophets.

He questioned why some church leaders would criticise prophets for selling items such as water and anointing oil at certain prices while allegedly charging high amounts for their own books.

“If a prophet should sell water for GH¢50 or GH¢100, or oil for GH¢200, the same senior pastors would come and speak grammar. But when you write a book and sell it for $10,000, nobody questions you,” he claimed.

The preacher further warned against judging religious leaders solely by their command of English or style of preaching, alleging that some pastors who appear respectable publicly may not be as upright as people believe.

“Maybe because you use English in your sermons, people think you are perfect, but they do not know that some of you are criminals,” he added.
