China is producing better quality, tech loaded vehicles than that by their Western rivals. Western car manufacturers are now in serious trouble especially in Europe where car buyers are abandoning traditional makes including high end models and going for cheaper, better spec and better quality Chinese ones which often cost up to 50% cheaper.
A few years ago Jim Farley CEO of Ford got into trouble for praising Chinese vehicles
Farley admitted to having a Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan flown from Shanghai and driving it as a personal daily driver for over six months to study its superior technology and cost efficiency. He openly praised the vehicle, stating he did not want to give it back. See on New York Post this article "Ford CEO Jim Farley slammed for driving Chinese-made electric vehicle: ‘Slap in the face’'.
Unlike Western Europe the USA currently imposes tariffs and restrictions on Chinese cars in order to protect their own vehicle manufacture. It is difficult to see how Western companies can compete against Chinese manufactured EV cars. Even high performance Western cars costing hundreds of thousands of dollars to purchase are now having to compete with makes like the Xiaomi SU7 that is reputed to outperform some these big names on several metrics yet cost about a third of their on-the-road price? The future looks pretty bleak for many Western Automobile manufacturers if we are to be honest!
