He mortgaged the entire future of our generation and the ones yet to be borne on who he is in politics today.As the Nugs president in 1998,he single handedly accepted cost-sharing against the position of the entire students body in Ghana for a political reward from NDC.They included MP on the ticket of NDC in a safe NDC constituency in his native north, admission into Ghana law school even though he did sociology and not law at legon and was a second class lower student as opposed to much qualified Ghanaians with first class in similar field.He was also given enough financial reward to start an Mphill programme in the same year at Legon.pathetically,mobile phone was part of the package as it was a luxury then.He ended up commiting an unpardonable academic crime known as plagerism which is equivalent to first degree felony in academia.In serious and real democracies,it will be a travesty to give sduch a character any political office let alone something as important as oil,our new found worth

This Haruna guy is honest, intelligent and hardworking so I will be delighted to see him get this sensitive position. Our oil is very little, but with somebody like him in charge, we can get a lot out of it.

After experiencing 6 continents, I have realised that Ghanaian products are not inferior as we are made to believe but of high quality. Lets believe in ourselves and lets strive to improve upon our products.

What is the ministry of engery doing? How about the GNPC? We don't need a ministry for every thing. What we need is good and effective departments staff by a team of competent professionals at the ministries to manage the oil and gas sector (and indeed all sectors related related to the oil and gas business). I think is newly oil and gas sector in Ghana is over rated. We have a very poor educational system, poor health care, poor sanitation, looming futre for our youth due to unemployment and limited opportunities in Ghana. What are we doing to uplift our society? Oil and gas will not be the answer to our problems. There are a lot of countries that have been in this oil and gas for years and they are still straggling. Looke at Nigeria. We need to put our national challenges in the correct persepctive and trackle them squarely.

The ministerial appointments are a reflection on the President's "judgement" in portraying competency and setting a different tone and direction, which Ghana badly needs. Is it that we genuinely lack qualified people that we simply need to just "cycle" people around to fill in spots? We never seem to focus on an apointee's qualifications and "direct relevant" experience for a postion.

Unquestionably, the best appointment in my opinion, is that of Jane Opoku Agyeman (former Vice Chancellor, University of Cape Coast) as Minister of Education. Jane had several years of prior teaching and administrative experience at the University before her appointment as Vice Chancellor.
Hanna Tetteh's appointement is also commendable and reflects on her "direct and relevant" experience to the ministry Foreign Affairs. In her capacity as former minister of Trade and Industry, she interacted with foreign governments and is knowledgeable about negotiations and formulating international laws.

In contrast, does Haruna Iddrisu have the 'remotest' experience in the Oil and Energy sector? or we assume that his 4-year expereince in the Ministry of Communications is relevant to the Oil industry? Imagine negotiations between big Texas-based Oil executives and Haruna !!. What does it mean when Ghanaians site "hard working" as a relevant qualification?

I would also question the appointment of Dr Edward Omane Boamah for Ministry of Communications. Does this man know what a "band-width" is or has he even heard of "radio frequency" ? He is indicative of Univerisy professors who can't make it in the University and throw themselves into politics and shout irrelevancies to juggle for positions. Is there a WebSite where we can read the resumes for these appointees?
