A typical example of copying is Hiphop turned to "Hiplife" and to be frank, the Azonto dance moves are not that different from Makosa, Afrobeat,Soukous etc. African dance steps are interlinked so I too find Samini's disrespect of P-Square as a blemish on Samini himself; P-Square did nothing to be ashamed off and rather the duo should be proud of themselves and that they have created a different strand of the 'Azonto' style of dance - 'Alingo'.

‘Juju’ in the Ghanaian music industry

It sounds so funny to me when some celebrities upon receiving some awards at various awards ceremonies, give thanks to God when deep in their hearts, they know they rather ignored God and consulted some fetish priests for juju.

I believe it would be very childish and mischievous on the part of any person to conclude that indeed the successes chalked by most of our celebrities can all be attributed to God.

It's without doubt that some celebrities depend on powers of darkness. Sometime back Hiplife artiste, Castro was reported to have gone for juju to help enhance his musical career.

That news was quite surprising because Castro has been very successful on the music scene and there wasn't the need for him to use juju.

The news alleged that he had gone for the juju from a powerful female spiritualist at Madina Zongo. Having been able to go through all the rituals, Castro was reported to have personally made an undertaking to reward the spiritualist with a cash amount of GH¢500 in addition to other assorted items if the juju worked in his favor.

When Castro was quizzed about the issue, he said though the issue was true, he intimated that it was a friend of his who did it on his behalf. Castro also revealed that it was his friend who introduced him to the spiritualist but admitted that the rituals were done with his consent. Quite importantly, Castro denied that the rituals done were juju. He said the place was more of a Christian church than a fetish shrine.

In the course of writing this piece, I spoke to so many musicians. All the musicians I spoke to made it categorically clear that most musicians of today really use juju.

I was told some of the main reason for using juju is to help the artiste become very popular, get more hit tracks, become wealthy, get more awards, gain favor in the eyes of the general public and most importantly, as a source of protection from other artistes on the music scene who may try to abruptly end their careers.

I was stunned to the bone. If some musicians are able to reveal that their fellow musicians use juju, who am I to doubt it.

Hip life duo (name withheld), also believe that the biggest challenge in the music industry in Ghana is the use of supernatural powers or black magic, locally called 'juju', by some musicians to promote their album.

According to the duo, because some upcoming musicians and some old musicians are not talented enough, they go for juju to protect themselves and destroy any musician who they see as a threat.

CID nabs Jamaican for cultivating large Wee farm

Personnel of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service have arrested a 58-year-old Jamaican for cultivating 400 acres of cannabis (wee) at Koru in the Alavanyo-Nkonya District in the Volta Region.

Also arrested with the suspect, Wesley Appleton, were 10 suspects including three women who were found on the farm during the police raid. The police also retrieved about five tonnes of cannabis which had been harvested and stored in fertiliser bags and plastic drums in the cottage.

The other suspects are Kwame Kwadwo, 24, Sumu Kofi, 26, Odame Nelson, 23, Yaw Kudzordzi, 18, Gershon Owusu, 25, Maxwell Tawiah, 20, and Vincent Mensah, 21. The names of the three women are being withheld.

Briefing the press in Accra, the Director-General of the CID, Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr Prosper Agblor, said the farm was the largest in the history of the country.

He said earlier in 2010 the CID?headquarters gathered intelligence to the effect that a Jamaican had acquired a large portion of land in the Alavanyo-Nkonya area and was cultivating cannabis on large scale for export.

He said based on this information the police mounted surveillance on him.

According to the Director General, in June this year, intelligence gathered indicated that the Jamaican, who had relocated to the Nkwanta area of the Volta Region, had acquired about 400 acres of land and had employed some youth, including schoolchildren to cultivate cannabis.

He said undercover agents were deployed in the area for some months and those agents were able to locate the farm at Koru, a village near Nkwanta, also in the Volta Region .

COP Agblor said on October 2, 2012, a joint team of personnel from the CID headquarters and the Narcotics Control Board and personnel from the National Headquarters Operation Unit went to Koru and conducted a search in the village.

He said during the search, five suspects were arrested with various quantities of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis but the security team did not see the suspect.

He indicated that the team then moved to the farm, which was in the thick forest situated about five kilometres from the Koru village, and managed to arrest Wesley Appleton in his cottage.

The team discovered a cannabis farm with an estimated size of about 400 acres with part of the crop having already been harvested and the plants dried in the farm house. About five tonnes of cannabis which had been harvested and stored in fertiliser bags and plastic drums in the cottage were retrieved.

The farm and part of the harvested stock were then destroyed. Four locally made cap guns were retrieved from Wesley Appleton’s room. They were all not licensed.

He said five persons who were met sleeping in the cottage were also arrested for investigation. Wesley Appleton claimed ownership of the farm.

The Director-General warned persons engaged in such criminal activities to put an end to them before the long arm of the law catches up with them.

He said police intelligence officers were on the ground and as and when they gathered sufficient intelligence, similar operations would be carried out in other regions of the country.

Last week Border officers at the Heathrow Airport in the UK made their biggest cannabis seizure in three years after containers arriving on an aircraft from Ghana last Monday September 24, 2012 were found to contain the drug.

According to the London Evening Standard newspaper, the drug, which weighed around 1.5 tonnes and had a street value of 4.3 million pounds sterling, was found in three separate freight containers filled with fresh fruits and vegetables.

In another incident, a 750,000 pound haul of cocaine had been intercepted by customs officials at Heathrow Airport stashed inside hollowed-out plantains in a huge shipment of fruit and vegetables from Ghana.

I have been to Nigeria 4 times this year, and I am amazed Nigeria is not as bad as they paint it in Ghana. In Nigeria there are good roads, i travelled from Lagos to Owerri by road, Abuja to Port Harcourt by road. On the internet we were told there are no roads in Nigeria, but the types of world class roads i see in Abuja and Uyo does not exists anywhere in Ghana. Anyone doubting me should use google and see the type of roads and world class facilities in many Nigerian cities like Abuja, Lagos, Uyo, Calarba, Port Harcourt etc.

We were told Nigeria does not have electricity, but i spent 7 days in my hubbys village in Imo State and the light did not go off for once, while in Accra and all our cities in Ghana electiricity goes on and off every few hours since last year. ABEG WE SHOULD NOT LAUGH AT PEOPLE WHO ARE SMARTER, MORE INTELLIGENT, MORE DEVELOPED AND MORE EDUCATED THAN US.

In many Nigerian cities, education is free from primary to secondary. In Imo State education is free up to university level and this is where my husband hails from and his blood sisters are beneficiaries of this free education, while in ghana we are still begging for free shs???

When Nigerians introduced their dance "ALANTA" which was popularized by 9ice,most Ghanaian artist used the dance in their stage performance did Nigerians complained?

When Ghanaian music was increasing in decreasing rate most HIP-LIFE Artist though singing like Nigerians might help and a lot of them started copying Nigerians way of singing and even their language.That was the era where you will hear the word'kolo,Mugu,Maga and Kpeme in Ghanian music and did Nigerians complained?

Shallow minded Ghanaians should stop fighting over who's using the dance Azonto, the nationality and which dance resemble what.

So what is too special about Azonto.You people should give us a break.

My dear, Yes you are right Azonto is a Ghanaian Dance, we all know that, but u people should accept the fact that if not Nigerians artist who took the dance far away, no one would have know what Azonto is, Wizkid thought CB, and u know wat that means if CB shoot the video, Ghanaian should be grateful. I have never heard Nigerians Artist compaling of Ghanians one, bcos if u look many of the ghanians artist today, they copy from Nigerians, even the pidgeon english language Ghanains now used, its From Nigeria, we never complain bcos we are all Africa, and brothers. As of year 2010 when science and technology have taken the centre stage in the affairs of mankind, the only technology Ewes have been able to design is to make human beings vanish to the cemetery to lie in between graves or turn into motor cycles after shaking hands with Ewes. Thank God Obama did not experience this during his short visit to Ghana in 2009. It would have been a complete national disaster!!

Already, there is an endless list of evil deeds attributed to Ewes which they are not making any effort to relinquish.

- Refusing to bath (even when given free Jacuzzi bath facility, soap and sponge), not cleaning their teeth (even when provided free toothpaste and brush), not wiping their anus after toilet (even when offered free top quality toilet paper), not shaving their armpits and leaving a thick forest of dirty stinking pubic hair there (even when given free electronic or manual razor), not observing basic hygiene in their homes and surroundings (even when offered free education on personal hygiene) …… all these resulting in perpetual Ekoro (Eczema) all over the body.

- Eating faeces in year 2009 when science and technology are ruling the universe and a man of African pedigree (Obama) is occupying the most powerful presidency (America) in the world.

- By Trokosi ritual decree, every Ewe man is required as a prelude to sex, to abrasively lick the woman’s anus and repeatedly bite her bottom until enough pressure is brought to bear upon her to fart and defaecates into his mouth for him to swallow. This is the Ewe version of “foreplay” as dictated by their Trokosi god. Ewes religiously worship this Trokosi pronouncement with absolute commitment since non-compliance is punishable by impotence.

- Killing school boys and burying them in shallow graves near the school in a "seating position".

- Using JUJU to crash policemen on arrest duty in order to escape arrest and walk away with crime.

- Using their position of influence to promote junior rank women to managerial and directorship levels in order to prepare the ground for eventual wife-snatching expedition from their lawful and legitimate husbands, a la Tsatsu Tsikata vs. Esther Cobbah at GNPC.

- Tightly burying their mouth in their palms when laughing in public because of their rotten teeth and stinking mouth.

- Staging senseless and useless coup d'etats to kill and seize people's property out of sheer envy, jealousy and hatred.

- Abducting, mercilessly murdering and brutally burning judges in cold blood, including a female nursing mother of a 3-month-old lactating baby girl.

- Tying heavy loads to human beings and flying them in helicopters over the high seas and dropping them alive in the middle of the deep oceans.

- Setting up faceless and wicked kangaroo courts to impose wicked sentences ranging from 50-100 years without the accused persons ever knowing who the judge was.

- Writing dangerous books (a la Kofi Awoonor) to disunite a whole nation.

- Stealing fowls and cats and pregnant goats.

- Stealing public funds a la Abodakpi, Selormey and Tsatsu Tsikata.

- Practising Trokosi, juju at home and workplace, and barbaric female circumcision.

- Engaging in Atetenkrona - kidnapping children and harvesting their throats alive to sell for rituals.

- Publicly throwing human excreta on people and food.

- Spraying truckloads of human excreta on media houses.

- Rejecting anything offered to them as gift only to sneak back shortly afterwards to steal the same thing later when nobody is there.

- Falling in love with their own daughters, having sex with them and impregnating them a la Anthony Bleworda.

- Shamelessly having sex with little girls as young as 5-6 years old and infesting them with HIV a la Victor Kwabla Agboko (alias jujuman) who defiled and infected his six-year-old daughter with HIV and got 18 years imprisonment and Kofi Katus who defiled a five-year-old Kindergarten pupil and gave her 10 pesewas.

- Vigorously moaning and groaning above their voice during orgasm to the hearing and discomfort of the next door neighbour.

- Going to hide somewhere (during the break time on their routine latrine boy duties) to eat and smear their Ekoro-infested bodies with some of the maggot-filled Ashanti toilet they are carrying, in the mistaken hope and belief that it will purge them of their Ekoro (Eczema) plague when in fact it is common knowledge that they have been cursed to carry the Ekoro on their skin and eat and carry Ashanti toilet from generation to generation through all eternity because of their demonic proclivities.

- Stealing Fantes to make them Vice Presidents a la Prof. Mills and Mr. Arkaah (may his noble Fante soul rest in perfect peace) and stand as Presidential candidate for their murderous Ewe party because they know that no civilized tribe will vote for an evil Ewe candidate other than the dirty Ewes themselves.

- Disgracefully distinguishing themselves as the most ungrateful and inward-looking tribe under the sun a la Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State and President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs
