I would tell you what ! if you don't know where you are coming from, you will never know where you are going.

I think Kwabena Kwabena deserve the recognition for being the one of the few musicians presently carrying over the good works of the oldies, the Ampadu's, Paapa Yankson's and the host of them. R2Bees also did very well for the infusion of Yaa Amponsaah rythm in their song ODO, blending the old and new era for a beautiful piece. I think it's about time the state put in measures to protect and promote these goodies, so if The University Of Ghana has done this it is a step in the right direction. Kudos to Kwabena Kwabena and kudos to The School Of Performing Arts. Shalom

Well deserved honour. It's young people like Kwabena Kwabena who are keeping the high life genre alive. As has been mentioned in previous comments there are many great hilife artistes of old but there is lack of a vibrant breed of new/young artistes willing to take over the mantle and keep the flame of the high life genre burning!!! It's for this reason that Kwabena Kwabena truly deserves this recognition.
