Most people (mainly here in America) keep getting the the beautiful flag of Ghana mixed up with the rasta and ethiopian flags and theme! To long people have been, and looked clueless at the word "Ghanaian" and always ask "wheres Ghana?!" and so forth. But Nigeria, Nigeria is very well known by almost all. Yet when one of OUR innovative, and cultural dance Azonto is shown to the world, and especially to an American R&B artist like Chris Brown, and it is turned around and credited to the Nigerians, and their culture. It is a grave misinformation and insult. Ss now people will equate something that belongs to someone else's invention and style. Now dummies in America, will going around arguing and misrepresenting Azonto as something Nigerian. Continuing the the misinformation. ignorance of the various cultures in Africa. I'm trying to say anything bad about our fellow Africans, the Nigerians. But it is Ghana's time to shine too! We can't allow people to take our stuff and assign it to someone else, or get our culture, country, and identity mixed up for some else. We are Ghanaians, and our beloved country is Ghana! We must let the whole know exactly who we are, and the we will no longer sit on the sidelines or in the shadows anymore. We in a league of our own. GH swagg chaley.

This issue can be argued from 2 angles. (1) Wizkid may have plagiarized the dance by presenting it to Chris Brown like it was his own. Or (2) Wizkid who obviously loves Azonto, did not see the need to tell CB that the dance was actually a GH product since we are all Africans. My 2 cents!

That was the beginning of "black on black discrimination in Africa" a situation that has never ever happen in Africa, where people inter mingle and married for thousands of years before the evil Ghanaian Busia ACO order, (where Ghanaians sees their fellow Africans as Aliens in mama Africa), and the rest is history.

My question is this, if the ACO was for economic purpose, how come the other foreigners like Lebanese, (they control most of Ghanaian economy till date anyway), and Indians, Arabs, Obronis etc; were left untouched by Busia ACO. That is a food for thought Mr. Truth.

No one in The Netherlands suffers hunger, housing or shelter, jobs or poverty as known in Nigerian among the poorest and very dirty nation. we have been watching Nigerian artist all this while but the dance was not seen anywhere until recently when the spirit of the dance has almost died down that Nigerians have also developed the interest and are making moves similar to that of the original version from Ghana.
Chris Brown who hitherto was my idol until he beat up his girlfriend another songstress Rihana and the recent marijuana or weed commonly known in Ghana.
Out of shame he is trying to discredit Ghana for the dance that the world knows originated from Ghana.
Shame brown!!!!!
But i will urge the media and all artist involved to do well to maintain and hold on to it and own it forever.

The dance involves a frenzied set of hand movements that either mimic everyday activities or are meant to signal an often comical intention. It begun with one or two step movements but has been advanced to more complex and almost acrobatic movements. Just like most African dances, knee bending and hip movements are rudiments to dancing it. The dance has effectively evolved from a few rudimentary moves to embrace depictions of ironing,washing, driving, boxing, grooming, praying, swimming, and others.
Generally, the dance reflects the creativity and sense of humour of the Ghanaian people. The dance, which is usually performed with an accompanying smile, evolved from the combination of several local dance moves that originated from Ghana during the early 2000s. The dance has evolved with the fast pace dance culture of modern West Africa.

The term "Azonto" which originally was a rude reference to wayward girls, has been adopted as the handle for a Ghanaian fast-beat dance music genre and the accompanying dance that goes with it.
It originates from the word Azontoa (pronounced in some dialects as Abontoa) which means an ugly street girl. Originally used in the early 1990's in songs that were intended to offend female student schools that were not much liked, the word seems to have become an acceptable word since then.
Example Use of the 1990's
"Alele oh (School Name) Azontoa (Abontoa) mo nenam kwan kyen na mo y3 noma bone gyae nkwada bone sem yi".
Azonto music and dance went viral in 2011 and became Ghana's first pop culture phenomenon to have gained global appeal.
The basic movements of the azonto dance is said to have originated in Ga communities along the coast of Ghana's capital, Accra. The dance moves involve freehand movements and gesturing with varying signals and role plays. Azonto is influenced by Ghanaian cultural dances and popular dance forms that go with the hitherto most popular genre, hip life.
