While it is recommended to have them for 10 yrs with possible change, if there are no problems, you can keep your implants for life. If this story is true then the implants may hv been faulty. A lot of silicone implants have been recalled. I choose saline in case of leaks the saline is harmless. But in all honestly, you don't have to change your implants every 10 yrs if there are no complications. Just keep up on your annual mammograms.
