Boy do I hate skin bleaching, and sure as hell do I hate all the fake hair Ghanaian girls spot these days. It is extremely disheartening, because it over emphasizes a woman's natural beauty. Somehow I don't blame all these Ghanaian girls, because I found out that there is something called "female follicle mutilation" at a certain stage in your school going life. This practice is illegal and must be stopped. No institution, except a prison or jail has the right to implement bodily mutation as a rule. This my friends is the reason why almost 99.9% of Ghanaian girls ugly and beautiful spend the rest of their lives and meager income as hair fetishes. You loud mouth citizens who always pick the wrong battles to fight, take this on!

Now to skin bleaching, I would never knowingly date a girl who bleaches, but I am like, what is the big deal. What makes you inferior dark skin girls think that everybody wants to be white or light that is why they bleach. It is part of the same cosmetic mentality that exists in women, white women love to TAN, black women love to lighten up. Some of you hypocrites, especially Ghanaian men will froth over a nicely tanned white girl, but scorn a Ghanaian girl engaging the reverse process. Leave them alone if you are not envious or jealous. Same hatred forced some of our ugly village women to force legislation so every girl can look equally ugly when they attend school, by cutting all their hair.
Is skin bleaching more hazardous than the drinking habits of Ghanaian men? The excessive consumption of fufu, banku and kenkey? Our undying culture of eating street food served in the worse hygienic conditions?
Please find something worthwhile to discuss. Most Ghanaians are not natural as dark as they seem, the intense heat and constant exposure to the sunlight makes them dark. I have seen black Ghanaians get tanned, or burnt. They have every right to use skin lightening lotions. I will never do that. Secondly, why is it that it is always very dark people who worry about mixed race kids and chocolate skinned girls. It is only skin deep, and yes girls are slightly more attracted to them, but it is only temporary. If you are dark and beautiful inside and outside, you have no worries, but naturally if you are dark and ugly, you may be doomed, and thus have such complexes as this Ama girl is exhibiting.

I don't encourage people to bleach because I know the devastating effect, but everybody have their own addictions. The fact that hers is tatoo, which equally dangerous, does not make her better to be pontificating on bleaching.
Tired of this stupid self acclaimed celebrities throwing their 'weight' about and doing silly things that can not serve as models to the young ones.

Even skin treatment without hydroquinone is bad. Recently, I had a facial and microdermabrasion to remove a layer of dead skin from my face. I also bought men's face cream from over the counter to remove uneven tones on my face. I was surprised by the amount of protestations I got from my friends. Some said I wanted to be white. Most of them felt outraged. I started to wonder whether it is a displacement for the hate of the whiteman by some Africans. Any skin treatment is bad if it leaves the skin brighter and lighter. We are missing the point. The fresh skin under my pollutants laden top skin is still mine. If I peel of a polluted layer of tired and damaged skin that has taken a beating from hyper exposure to the sun, how can that be classified as trying to be white?

This article stupidly puts down Ama for giving this EXCELLENT advice, just because she has tattoos on her skin, and tattoos also could have undesirable medical effects!!! Does that invalidate Ama's good advice? Is the writer advocating that it is ok to bleach just because Ama has tattooed? Would the writer have been happy if Ama had rather advised people to bleach their skins? I think the article is totally unwarranted.

Tatoos are different from bleaching...tatoos can be removed, bleaching can not. There are many young insecure people bleaching there skin to look "light skinned" which is more of a problem than tatoos
