The mystery of death and sickness is part of the gospel message so should they be in song ministration. Remember Lucifer was a worship leader but I doubt if he ever sang to convert people to God.

Most of these local songs don't make any meaning neither do they praise God. That is why some of us prefer foreign gospel music because they are full of scriptures. Sonnie, i agree with you 100%. There are different songs for different times. The Psalms, Lamentation, Songs of Solomon, Book of Revelation and Exodus just to mention a few, are all books of the Bible that contain songs sung in the Bible. As well as songs, we will sing in the New Jerusalem (heaven) such as the song of the redeemed and the songs of Moses found in the Book of Revelation.

The content (lyrics) of the songs varies a great deal. Some of the content will fit the praise and worship genre and other will provide the opportunity for reflection and lamentations. However, they all serve their purpose as intended.

It is rather challenging when you want to everyone to minister in the line of your calling. There is diversity of gifts and spirit and we have to be respectful of the different ministries and gifts of the people of God.

To illustrate, most Black American sing about " the stroms of life, "Glory of God" and what God has made them (ie songs like Never, could have made it and my life is in your hands); whereas the white folks sing about (the redemptive work of God on the cross and the Holiness and greatness of God). When you put all these songs together, you have great variety for the edification of the saints.

Master Sonnie you are one of many minstrel called to minster to the body of Christ. Other have a message too and there is a place for everyone.

Sonnie you are not are an accomplice in this matter listen to your ministration, the buck starts with you... who is the object of our worship? Jesus is our focus of worship; we need not to acknowledge the devil in the same instance as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

1. This is an old issue and should never have been written about. This article was published in 2009/10 why post it again. I guess some thrive on controversies that get people talking and distracted, instead directing the people of God to focus their mind on things above. It is a shame the author of this article will write an article based on one source that is littered with error. The bible has all sort of songs and they all serve their purpose pretty well.

2. I bet there are other Gospel artists who are faithfully serving God and impacting lives, I guess it will be excellent to read about them. News feed about Cecilia Marfo states any time she picks up a microphone "the atmosphere changes", this is not a Childs play. This is similar to David playing/singing for Saul evil spirit to leave. How many singers will dare minister to a psychotic individual on a psychiatric ward; yet nothing has been written about how she achieves this in a ministry. We devote out time publish article that lacks credibility and won't edify the saints.

It is about time we use these platforms online to promote Ghanaian gospel. You have to search so hard to read scanty news about Mary Ghansah, yet her songs has defined the praise and worship genre in Ghana. Minister Sonnie has made gains by including one of her songs Yen Agya on his Colours of Africa album and I doubt he paid the appropriate royalties.
