It's gotten to a worrying situation where a whole government media house THE GHANAIAN TIMES is in the forefront of promoting Xenophobic publications and reportage against Nigerians and Nigerian establishments in Ghana and I wonder if Ghanaians have such short memories and soon forggoten how Nigerian provided an interventionary support when Ghanaian economy collapsed in the 80s. Nigerian became the only sanctuary for million of hungry Ghanaians and even tolerated the Ghanaian social vices including stealing and prostitution by hosts of thousands of young Ghanaians who were desperate to survive.

THE GHANAIAN TIMES that flashes Jim Iyke's distorted and now false news on front page, repeated another xenophobic intetioned front page news of two Nigerians in a kidnap and rape reportage. Assuming they were true stories, how did those two publications qualify to be front page captions,? Is that to suggest no kidnap or rape case or celebrity altercations that invove Ghanaians ever happened in Ghana,? Why the front page xenphobic emphasis on Nigerians,? Nigerian newsmedia deal with very serious news items and never focus on Ghanaians that commit crimes in Nigeria eventhough they do as in recent arrests of a bunkering barge loaded with stolen oil from the Niger Delta region. There were three Ghanaians among them but there was never a front page caption by any Nigerian newspaper emphasising Ghanaian criminality; until you read the entire story in whole.

I wonder if the Ghanaian society has learnt anything in the past early 80s Agege debacle that repartriated millions of Ghanaians back home and the suffering that came along,? fortunately such targetedly repartriation may nevet happen again but Ghanaians must reminded that economic advantage between the two countries tilts heavily in favour of Nigeria and therefore Ghanaians must thread cautiously in their open hatred for Nigerians. Nigeria may not hesitate to use the deplomatic options if it's citizens feels unsafe in Ghana, as Nigeria did against Britain by nationalising BP including its exploration activities, paid off Standard Bank and got it renamed, cancelled British Airways slots in Nigeria, an action that led to the depriciations of the pound currency by a quarter in as many decades. South Africa got its pound of Nigerian diplomatic muscle flexes when it attempted to compel Nigerian travellers to jabs at point of entry.

In all of these scenarios Ghana is just a small fry and should never attempt to try Nigeria's brotherly and friendly patience that dates back to colonial struggle. Ghana is a signatory to the Ecowas trity of free movement within the region and therefore should be more proactive in stoping miscreants from Nigeria flocking into Ghana instead of criminalising and calling all Nigerians crooks, a case of giving a dog a bad name in order to kill it. Ghanaians are no saints, there are equally criminals who are Ghanaians all around the world as Nigerians. Ghanaians like their African couterparts including Nigerians are constantly under fraud and criminal surveillance anywhere in Europe and America so let no one paint a picture of sainthood of Ghanaians anywhere.
The biggest Stock Exchange fraud of 6 billion dollars in New York Exchange market syphoning was committed by Ghanaian called Adoboli, are Ghanaians exonirating themselves from the crime, or are Ghanaians proud to have one of their own in the most heineious crime known in history to be single handedly commited by a Ghanaian. Ghana should stop the pretence of closing their eyes to crminal activities of fellow Ghanaians, continue yo behave as though crime is not of a Ghanaians but resides in Nigerians and other Africans. The hipocracy must stop now before its too late. GOD BLESS NIGERIA

The current Ghanaian generations who choose to write all sort of damaging stories intended to denigrate Nigerians be taken through some historical lessons of events between Nigeria and Ghana, they probably were not born or were too young to know or remember events of the past. Without going through all the details, the young folks should ask of what led to the mass migrations of Ghanaians to Nigeria and how tagged name "OMO GHANA" came about, and what events back in Nigeria led to "GHANA MUST GO" accolade bag that has assumed international recognition and so called even by Ghanaians.

If this current generations of young Ghanaians were privy to the level of tolerance and accomodations of millions of migrating Ghanaians in the early 80s by Nigerians; during the days of difficulties in Ghana they probably would appreciate the gesture of Nigerians then and moderate their level of hatred for Nigerians now.
Even as we speak, there are still difficulties in Ghana as it has ever been; several numbers of Ghanaian businesses today still depend largely on Nigeria for sustenance and quite a large number are still in contruction businesses in Lagos and Abuja.
The older generations of Ghanaians who know better should caution the younger ones cos when the retaliatory diplomatic option becomes the choice, it's the Ghanaian businesses that'll suffer the most.
