Fatal doesnt mean someone should die or something of that sort. I am very disappointed that you could have made the correction easily but you have rather heightened it wrongly. Fatal means causing death or can cause death.

so if it is a fatal accident it means the injuries sustained by the victims CAN cause their death. this is simple.

Richard, you are referring to figurative meaning of fatal as maybe used to describe a failure in a plan or a disaster. A mangled car with no injuries or death reported is NOT a fatal accident.
