I was shocked and flabagasted at the intensity with which this phenomenon took place, but then so many awful things happened during the Rawlings era, and it all took a sharper negative turn during the Kuffuor administration, where it was like scorch earth for Akan Domination. Even the Taxi and Tro-Tro business that has choked the City of Accra, is also based directly on this excessive Twi drama rage.

I have also said that the only way some sanity can be injected into this canker is for sensible, well mannered and groomed Akans to rise up and demand some decorum on behalf of their mother tongue. When we allow others to say it or harbor hatred towards this industry, it breeds tension. Indeed these Twi speaking programs are a disgrace to any civilized human. And please stop calling ti Akan movies ot TV etc. because not all Akans speak Twi. The Fantis the Akuapims and other groups down South like to distinguish themselves from other Akan groups.

Please stop pretending that there is equal presentation in this industry, Akans or Twi speaking promoters have dominated the scene only because they want to feel more important than other groups, instead of working towards the quality of the industry, they want quantity so they can overshadow others. Same thing Kennedy Adjapong said about Radio Stations, now just see what has happened to Ghana. You pass by a radio it is total noise. The music is senseless, the announcers sound like imps. These same people who clamor for local languages will never patronize an Ewe or Ga station, yet they want us to believe that English is foreign to our culture. Twi is as foreign to a Ga, Ewe or Hausa native, but you know they have enough sense to accommodate Twi, not because Twi is better or even polished.

Gas don't shout when they act or discuss things, neither do Ewes or Hausas... clean up your own mess!!!

CITIZEN ONE, WHY DONT people like you CREATE EWE or Ga or Hausa TV or radio station? You and I should accept that AKAN or TWI should have been a NATIONAL LANGUAGE from the day of Ghana Independent but our leaders at the time were still blind with accepting the English.

The number of individual languages listed for Ghana is 81. All are living languages. Of these, 16 are institutional so why is TWI spoken by ALL. Even a foreigner in Ghana start learning TWI in ACCRA NOT GA to make life easier for himself. So my dear CITIZEN ONE, no one want to feel superior over anyone where our languages are concerned. the only language that makes one feel more important in Ghana is the ENGLISH language that belongs to another COUNTRY OUTSIDE AFRIKA!

The Asian countries like China, India, Pakistan etc. used and still uses their language for EVERYTHING and learn English as a second language but in Ghana you have thrown your own away and fighting over the ONE language that can never DIE like Nzema language. Besides Akan, the government of Ghana sponsor 8 other languages so again try and create a film in those languages and see how you will get your financial returns!

Even in the Northern Region at the chief palaces the common language to settle a case is TWI.

Therefore, instead condemning YOUR OWN KIND in OUR OWN country - let embrace the TWI and help the film industries to change the Profanity language when making films in our TWI language, so that such films can earned profitable income for Ghana development and count Ghana among global film countries like Ghanaian embracing the Mexican and the Brazilian telenovelas drams and films made using the country common language.

I might not be able to tell your indebt charge, or charges at education but I can predict you are well educated.

I cannot tell how old you may have been as I write but can predict that you are well advanced in age.

I may also attempt to predict you are married but could not tell if you are a father.

You may not agree with me when I say to be able to succeed in every field of endeavour one must consciously adopt, learn or get conversant with the Akan language(Twi preferred) in Ghana.

By my rough, raw, and hard core conservative estimation, the Akan is the tool of wider communication in Ghana.

It is not like they, the Akans want to feel big or important in whatever situation they find themselves. It is so because they outnumber all the 52 or so indigenous languages in Ghana.

The Akan is the sole umbrella under which every other group enjoys its shelter. In that, their unique position on the Map makes it easier
for the rest of the people to migrate
up or down for social and business
interaction.

Remember that, the Guans are pseudo-Akans who share common borders with the Fantis- Senya and Efutu Bireku, Winneba and the underlying vicinities. Even though they possess their own indignity, over the years, have boosted the popularity of the Akan language because of their strategic location on the map.
Much so, the Guans strategically is placed in Atebubu and Ejura areas that render the Akan language a must for the Northeners and the far North

In the Volta region, these Guans who are Akans in technical terms have been strategically placed in the spread of the Akan language. i.e. Jasikan, Nkwanta, Kadjebi,Asatu, Worawora and Krachi are one of the reasons why Akan is spoken and understood all over Ghana.

The Guans are also hidden in the Akuapem mountains like the Larteh and Adukrom are congruently placed to help spread the easy accessibility of the Akan language through trading and common social interaction.
Apart from Ga, and Ewe, the Akan is the leader in depth tutored to a degree and masters level.

In the film and the music industries, albums, CDs and movie/video made in other languages besides the Akan do OR does not sell.
Commercials/Advertisement made in the same fashion does not reach a wide spectrum of patronage. Radio stations that have adopted transmitting in the Akan language as opposed to even the almighty English have much bigger story to tell.
We have tried various productions in Ga and Ewe. Oh man Oh Man!
It is always a failure.

These surveys tells no lie. No prejudice whatsoever.
It has to be in Akan (Twi preferred) to be a success.

It is therefore no wonder, no magic,
no political manouvre of any kind, no tribal usurpation whatsoever, no pomposity, and what have you, for every deserving entity to draw its programme without having Akan as the preference.

A few governments of the day have many a time considered making the Akan the language for wider communication right from primary school to the tertiary institutions, parliament and the judiciary but in vain due to the very reason MR CITIZEN harbours.

Here is an illustration where a supervisor is working with a whole cluster of ethnic labour.
The instructions he gives is the English. Unfortunately, most of these labourers have little or no education.
The supervisor himself is half-baked.
How do you expect maximum production if communication in the language they all understand isn't a factor.
