  This may be the case, however, funeral colours also reflect colonization of the African mind by Western European values. What is the origin of the tradition that explains the choice of colours? Black for expressing grief and sorrow because European educational systems have conditioned us to think 'black', what is African, is 'bad' and akin to evil. White expresses relief and joy because 'white', what is European, is good and appreciable. Take it or leave it.

  Every society has colors of clothes to wear during funerals. Like Ghanaians, who wear black, red, brown and white, the United States use black as color for funerals. Don't be dogmatic.
  
  Get close to the whites and you will learn that we they believe in is not all that different from what Ghanaians believe.

  Kgee, you are way off track. Before the arrival of the whiteman, colonial masters, our forefathers lived in their own world practising all these cultures. It is never the whiteman who taught The African who God is- remember names like Nyamekye( God`s gift), how to mourn and our forefathers knew colours, too. When a woman gives birth, she is traditionally and culturally taught and encouraged to don white clothes. Its sad that we do not even know our history yet we claim to be educated and civilised.
