The producers and music shops get all the money. The artiste only get some small fame which does not pay the bills or pay school fees.

Pastors, and very many musicians choose topics that hovers around their own lives and trumpet them any way they deem fit.

"God is not going to judge any gospel musician based on the number of awards won but how they utilized what given them"
I beg to ask; How do you know that is exactly what God does?
These plaque awards given to artists, in a way, is a monetary reward, and or a good-job done. A recognition from, and by the people for their meritorious work in the use of their God given talents to win souls.
How shameful could this be if not to glorify God?

So far as I know, as a gospel singer, your preoccupation is to sing for money, fame and recognition so God's name be exalted.
Now that you have the money and fame, you are missing the third one.
And that is, recognition.

You now feel empty and dejected, the essence why you are condemning the importance of awards in the society you live in.

"Are you looking for glory for yourself or for God?"
HERE IS WHY:
So far as I know, in the Xtiandom, the wise and the ambitious who propagate the gospel in the name of God, from the biblical Moses, right down to the Pope, Duncan Williams, Mensah OTabil, Apostle Ntumy, Desmond Tutu, Clifford Dollar etc. and even unto you OJ, are being trapped within the hypnotic web of importance, feeling big as you sing or preach to the congregants you amass all the glory on earth but give God a token praise by mouth. As you move around in the city, 'Heaven is in the back of your Cadillac'. You sport expensive suits and jackets, the wrap around 'ahenepa Nnkasa' kente cloth, Bubba, Batakari and the heavy smock.

Apparently, the name OJ has become a household name.OJ OJ OJ OJ>>E-n-c-o-r-e>>Give us some more!!!!!
Now tell me, who takes the glory?
The bible say: "Nea y'akyekyere wo fam no, na y'akyekyere wO soro"

HERE IS WHY:
If you'll be honest to yourself, you would confirm that, the world as we live in revolves around man. And God said, "Go ye into the world, take dominion of it, everything there is in it, increase and multiply." Man was made in the true likeness of God.
Take man out of the worldly equation and there would be no God. That is why
Jesus as a man is the God on earth.
You do not underestimate the power of man. The essence why man is the center of all worldly attractions.
Who say man no dey?

HERE IS WHY:
If what you have said is true outside the bible then Ghana, OOPS! none of us is a Xtian.
B'cos, from the inception of man taking over worldly affairs as ordained by God, man has been competing with and against each other to date. Ever heard of the accolade: 'survival of the fittest'?

The Akan expression: "Barima besam mfifire" smacks of nothing but a reference to the tendency of competing to stay ahead. You have been releasing albums upon albums to cater for your livelihood. Your albums must sell. It must compete against other releases so you can enjoy the toils of your own labour.
Do you consider that as immaturity?
Well, there are no limitations to the power of visualization, save those that the individual creates for himself or permits to be established by the influences outside of himself.
So what's your beef?

HERE IS WHY:
So you see, my dear OJ, you have invariably made a conscious effort to
compete with other artists, not for the money, not for the fame, not for the glory of God either. But for the glory of yourself albeit for the recognition your deserve or clamour for.

Believe it or not, God does not make anybody who he/she is. It is man that decides or chooses what he wants to do with his life on earth.
Singing songs and praises, like any other trait i.e. soccer, playing the piano and guitar were not created by God. Neither did God order man to learn a trade, be a lawyer or a doctor. Its man's own creations/inventions and order of the day.
Ask me in the same vain how I did know
the inhibitions of God and I would tell you to rely on your senses.

OJ I agree with you...but what is right right and what is wrong is wrong. Some gospel artiste who have worked very hard and deserve the rightful recognition do not not receive it. However, their well deserving award is given ...

However, their well deserving award is given to someone who has paid an official. Award or no award lets do the right thing.
