  Nkrumah had GFIC set-up to do propaganda films on him - the cult of Nkrumah. Under his reign no major cultural, entertainment etc. film was produced.

  Nkrumah had GFIC set-up to do propaganda films on him - the cult of Nkrumah. Under his reign no major cultural, entertainment etc. film was produced.
  
  "Love Brewed in the African Pot" was filmed during the Achaempong regime and after that no major film was produced until the advent of the "Burgher" video movies started in the 1990s and has now developed to Ghallywood.
  
  GFIC was just another State institution that did nothing for the betterment of Ghana. The so-called socialist-Nationalist JJ Rawling sold it to foreigners not Ghanaians whichwas no surprise, because he has never had a love for indigenous enterprise or entrepreneurs unless off course they are members of his family, Ewe tribe or sycophants from his PNDC murderous bunch.
  
  All these so-called Nkrumahist are just a bunch of delusional nuts who refuse to understand the reality of Ghana's history and the Ghanaian condition. So long as folks like them refuse to acknowledge the real facts about Nkrumah and his regime, Ghana will continual to live in a delusional world and thus fail to develop as it should.

  We need a progressive policy. All adverts in Ghana must be created by wholly owned Ghanaian businesses and the songs and celebrities in the adverts must be wholly Ghanaian. The celebrities and musicians must receive royalties. All the wholly owned Ghanaian entities must use wholly owned Ghanaian banks like ADB.
  
  We must move into the era of music/movies as a service (MAAS). At least 7 out of every 10 songs, movies and TV series played on our television stations, radio stations and entertainment centres must be wholly Ghanaian and must be produced in Ghana. These stations and entertainment centres must pay on a monthly or annual basis royalties to the Ghanaian artists. The amounts paid must be reasonable taking into consideration the profits of the entertainment establishments. However they must not pay any money whatsoever to the foreign artists because of the negative effect it would have on our GDP. The Ghanaian artists must use wholly owned Ghanaian banks like ADB. Many people can recall great shows like: Kukurantumi-road to Accra, Ultimate paradise, By the fireside, I told you so, things we do for love, Akan drama with osofo dadzie, obra and co, home sweet home, TV theatre, Dr Paa Bobo´s songs etc

  It's good to hear that government of Ghana is taking steps towards implementation of the film bill. But my area of concern is the kind of regulations that will be embedded in the bill to ensure professionalism. If this particular area is not handle properly, the plight of the movie industry will just be a saga continua. What about royalty and copy right privileges? This, I think must be entrenched in the bill to make the industry inviting. Nkrumah was idealist and foresighted president. He establish so many industries including Ghana film industry corporation not necessarily for immediate use but for future generations like today's Ghana. Comparing the capacity of Ghanaians during Nkrumah's regime. But unfortunately, successive governments failed to build on Nkrumah's foundations. Talking about the history of Ghana movie, one could say that Ghanaians were in to movie business long ago before the establishment of NAFTI but NAFTI was a force that push the industry forward to present state. In the 70's and 80's Ghana score massive interest in the movie industry compare to the 60's and in the 90's, NAFTI embarked TV series was a plus that serves as a catalyst to the emergence of today's GHALLYWOOD. It is however sad to note that it is now that steps are being taken to implement a film bill. But half a loaf is better than nothing. I hope the bill come on time and it will contain elements that will help revamp the movie industry. God Bless Ghana.
