Some songs are meant to educate (for social change), some to uplift the spirituality of a community, many to motivate. Some songs are meant for the dance floor a feat which many songs cannot achieve. Others are therapeutic; the depressed are healed and the anxious are calmed. We must promote poetry in our schools.
Whatever it is, it must promote the GDP/GNI of Ghana. This must not be lost on anyone.
We must move into the era of music/movies as a service (MAAS). At least 7 out of every 10 songs, movies and TV series played on our television stations, radio stations and entertainment centres must be wholly Ghanaian and must be produced in Ghana. These stations and entertainment centres must pay on a monthly or annual basis royalties to the Ghanaian artists. The amounts paid must be reasonable taking into consideration the profits of the entertainment establishments. However they must not pay any money whatsoever to the foreign artists because of the negative effect it would have on our GDP. The Ghanaian artists must use wholly owned Ghanaian banks like ADB. Many people can recall great shows like: Kukurantumi-road to Accra, Ultimate paradise, By the fireside, I told you so, things we do for love, Akan drama with osofo dadzie, obra and co, home sweet home, TV theatre, Dr Paa Bobo´s songs etc.

Just as Asare Hackman have said, there is always an agreement on how much a crew members should be paid before going on location to shoot a movie. If the crew members complaint that they don't get paid, then we will be asking why? But to say they don't get much pay, depends on their negotiation, experience and technical know how. Now, if we have to fix payment for the crews, many producers will run away from them especially when it seems to be too much. And this is where the industry will cripple because, FICAG will tempted to pass law (just as GAG did some years back) that you can't shoot a movie in Ghana without using FICAG members. In a way of protecting its members. In the other hands, if the payment is moderate that producers can afford, only few of the FICAG members will always be used since favouritsm and Ghanaians whom you know will set in. God Bless Ghana.
