  Frankly, what is there to respect about Ghana which Koo Fori is asking for. Isn't the Brazil debacle of refugee status Ghanaians opted for not enough grounds to disrespect Ghanaians everywhere around the world. There has always been this erroneous feeling among Ghanaians that the holding of Ghanaian passport commands some respect until Canadian Embassy refused Visa to football supportered persived to be potential asylum seekers. Though Ghanaians might not be looking to defect in South Africa but the incident of Brazil is there as a reference for all nations to be contemptious of Ghanaians anywhere around the world. Even Liberia and Sierra Leoneans were accorded much respect in the context of BBA Africa nominations event. I think Ghanaians should work at redeeming the bad images created in Brazil for which Canadian Embassy refused them Visas rather than asking for respect from South Africa. Ghana's image is already dented beyond limit.

  Human dignity sometimes lies in the measure of respect accorded you by others and not what amount of self praise you choose to heap on yourself as Ghanaians engage in mostimes. Ghana's image in recent times has gone so low in the international arena it does not take a demand for respect to easily restore dignity to the Ghanaian. Canadian Embassy did it for the reasons of preventing hungry Ghanaian hoodlums from invading their country to seek asylum. If Brazil had an idea as many as 200 Ghanaians will defect to seek refugee status after the world cup, the Brazilian Embassy would have done same as Canadian Embassy. Ghanaians are a desperate lots you cannot just predict what they do next when they set foot on your soil. Holding a Ghanaian passport these days at a point of entry in Europe and America is akin to being labelled a potential asylum seeker. Koo Fori should hold his breath and think of what to do to restore or change the negative impressions created by the disgraceful defections of Ghanaians in Brazil, not a demand for respect from the South Africans. Ghana was singled out for the contemptous treatment by BBA South Africans because the image of Ghana has sunk so low there's no longer any dignity left to be given a people who have no respect for themselves.

  Im surprise how some of us believe that residing in Ghana makes one more Ghanaian that the others living abroad. Choosing Ghanaian footballers residing abroad to play for the national team is no news; enjoying the remittances from those abroad does come with complains but wen it comes to benefits it should be left to only Ghanaians staying in Ghana. Hypocrisy on the side of Koo Fori.
