Whenever I hear of such stories regarding lack of basic social amenities in Gh in this time and age, I feel like crying. It's heartbreaking and embarrassing to be talking/complaining of such basic needs when others are making great progress in Science and Tech.
Ghanaians must stand up for their rights. Politicians and decision makers have taken the masses for a ride for a long time. How come we don't have regular supply of water and electricity in Ghana, even in the so-called capital- Accra?
What do they do with the taxes, and our gold, oil etc? I know the answer- CORRUPTION! Stand up for your rights, my people! Just last week I received a call that my junior sister had been rushed to KATH after she had collapsed and became unconscious. The Doctor just prescribed some medicine for my niece to go and buy, plus niddles so she can be injected to bring her back to life. It took more than two hours to get the medicine which cost close to 400 Ghana. So you see why people die needlessly? What kind of country is this? I always say that Southern African countries, except Zimbabwe, are better managed than our west African counterparts. Even though Namibia and Botswana are arid, you can't imagine not getting water flowing from the taps, not only in the capital, and major towns, but even in villages. Hardly will power go off. Clinics and Hospitals here are well resourced and managed by qualified and motivated Doctors and nurses and there's nothing like cash and carry? Oh Ghana, where did we go wrong.
