In other words, 'respect' is supposed to be a 2-way street.

For any individual who expects or demands respect must give respect. So if that individual thumbs his or her nose at a section of the society to marginalize by quoting an old and antiquated biblical verse just "to put this marginalized group in their place", that is very disrespectful of the so-called 'man of God'.

So just as sure as God made little green apples, you will get a few people from the marginalized group questioning the integrity and intentions of this fake 'man of God" and if you want to take that as disrespect, then so be it because this fake was paid back in his own coin.
You don't hide behind the bible to steal from people and you definitely don't use quotes that are not relevant in this day and age to 'VICTIMIZE' a group.

He didn't give respect so he doesn't deserve respect.
It's that simple.
