  its the fault of highlife musicians themselves. They have not been able to be innovative that is why the music is dying out and not being embraced by younger generations. See what Malians have been able to do so successfully worldwide with their music? They done it partly through collaborations with established jazz artists, Cuban musicians, celtic musicians and Brazilian musicians. Music must feed off each other inorder to grow and survive. Check out the latest collaboration touring the world which is the Malian songstress cum guitarist Fatoumata Diawara together with ace Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca.Now that is what we call a winning formula.
