Paying the dowry on his behalf is what I find mind-boggling. If he cannot pay that himself at the start then what chance has he to support you. He just isn't ready. That is what the recent case published about the squaddie and the Bank girl raised. At best, let the girl's parents demand just a Bible and Ring if that is manageable for him. There are some fundamental responsibilities that remain the preserve of the man if dignity is to prevail in the marriage.

infact, there is nothing wrong with a woman supporting you when you were a skint student. It was a risk-taking venture she undertook; but I'm sure you believed in you and vice-versa.
Not all such gestures end up that way. Infact I have a video clip of a Ghanaian woman in the UK who had been left holding her change sfter bringing a man into the country and buying him a car. It is too distressing to watch this poor woman carrying her suitcase to go and join him and new lover in HER car!!!

It is cases like this that has turned many a Black woman to join the convent ( "by force")

I would also invite folks to watch/ listen to former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Goodluck Jonathan on you tube when she was recounting her experience ".... where were those educated womens, when I and Goodluck (or is it Fashola) were struggling in Bayelsa, where were they?"

If you can't ever be happy in your relationship, why stay in it? You'd slipping into chronic depression which could lead to overindulgence in unhealthy behaviors like over-eating, drugs, and Alcohol, or even suicide.

You may have rethink about your situation seriously and do something more redeeming. Talking about it in Public may not be a sign that you are getting bolder to confront the situation without shame. But taking a positive step forward immediately would be a better way to proceed. Have more self-confidence and believe God loves you, and wishes you to be the best you could be. Do not let anyone belittle your abilities or your self-worth. Anyone doing that to you does not really wish you well, and you should pull away from that person to move on fast.

I hope you read this, Ms. It may also serve others in similar situation as you well, too.
