The BET TV show has only s limited TV time. I think some aspects of the program is even pre-recorded. There will always be backstage awards because the airtime is very expensive and some pre-contract shows cannot be taken off ... read full comment

My Thoughts on The BET AWARDS and Their
Humiliation Towards Africa.
Everyone is complaining about the BET Awards
giving out awards backstage to Africans, what
amazes me is, most of the artists complaining don't
even need BET. That's right, our very own Eddy Kenzo just got an award that might feed him and
his family but it has also given many children in East
Africa hope. We needed it.
Now these Nigerian artists and South African artists
complaining need to just shut up. I will tell you
why, we have been suffering in East Africa, because MTV Base and Channel O chose those two sides of
Africa and ignored us, we complained but
naah....they kept on, they continued to humiliate
East Africa with their awards by giving us few
categories and very few performances, the MTV
awards that took place in Kenya had more west Africans than us on stage. Am not trying to divide
us or say we should hate them, am just saying... We
kept quiet and decided to push, well knowing that
Nigerians and South Africans are ahead and we
need them, so we begged them for collaborations,
we attended their awards some of our artists were shoved and pushed around at the red carpets
because they were not big enough. But we
accepted and worked hard.
Years down the road, Eddy Kenzo wins an award
and it's now that they paint the award negatively
with their selfish cries, why didn't they boycott the awards from the beggining, why not before. The
knew very well they were going to receive their
awards at the pre-show. Its even on program, you
know it before it happens.
America has its own issues. But they created their
own platforms like BET and now want to expand to Africa, we on the other hand feel need to cry out
when they don't put us on their stage. This is the
same reaction that Mayweather got when he said
"why should i share my money with Africa...." Stop
complaining, use the platform to better yourself, we
are not being humiliated, being humiliated is us East Africans in our own Continent not being given a
share of the platform every musician gets in west
and south Africa. And they have the guts to say
Africa is not a country, ofkoss its not a country but
we should act like one. We are one. We are stronger
together, ask Eddy Kenzo. Humiliation is when you take your video to MTV
Base and they tell u to wait for 2months and they
only play it twice, we even have to wait for it so we
can take screenshots...meanwhile some stupid
song with the same rythm as all Nigerian songs is
premiered 5times a day. Ugandans even clown their own artists because their music is not on MTV,
that's humiliation, not me being interviewed at the
BET Awards Pre-show...that's not humilation. So
when BET nominates a Ugandan....don't try to see
involve us in your selfish cry. Am not saying BET is
right or that we need them....but for now, we need positivity all thru, there is no way BET is giving Fuze
ODG the same platform JayZ gets. Let's not mix
levels here, we are acting like local politicians that
want a front seat at someone's wedding.
