Bono-Ahafo (formerly western Asante region) is still part of Asanteman with the exception of the few chiefs ilegally breaking away i.e. Takyiman, Dormaa and New Drobo.

Don`t talk nonsense, if you dont know the history. Not all Akans trace their origin back to Bonoman. Secondly, the capital of Bonoman was Bono-Manso not Takyiman. Takyiman is a Fante founded city named after their Queenmother, Takyirifi. The Bonos came to meet the people of Gyamma and Dewoman, whom they later absorbed this was when the prefix Manso was added to Bono. Bono is never the oldest Akan state. Many Akans never settled in Takiyman but other places such as Adanse, which is far older than Bono Manso. Here we are limiting the Akan migration to Ghana, which is another mistake since the Akan came from far away. It was Asante, who restored the Bono dynasty since they belonged to the Oyoko clan, which is the ruling clan of Asante and hence allowed them to rule over Takiyman on behalf of the Golden Stool. Asanteman is much larger than Asante region it includes areas in the Volta region such as Worawora, Eastern Region, the entire Bono-Ahafo region etc. even outside of Ghana. Ahafos are 100% Asantes. Even most, who are referred to as Bonos are not Bonos. Dormaa and others are Akwamus of the Aduana/Aberade clan just like their Aduana brothers of Kumawu, Asumegya, Agogo etc. Even the true Bonos such as Wenkyi never made any attempt to break away from Asante. Take out Bono, it didnt even cover one third of that region. Most chiefs in that region were elevated to the status of an Oman by the Asantehene. Even the Sunyanihene is never an Omanhene. He is the Krontihene of Odumasehene, who rules his lands on behalf of the Golden Stool. He only became a paramount chief through P/NDC government under rawlings and support of the Takyimanhene. Even the Takiymanhene as late as 1935 swore allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Agyeman Prempeh II.

Kumasi and Ashanti Region no size. Kumasi is the centre of Ghana.There are more complex and modern states in US but Washington dc is more popular.Kumasi is more or less like DC.
